Sorry just feel the need for a little rant and apologise profusely in advance. So picture this. The children have had the opportunity to take part in an Art Project. They have been exploring colours, making choices and painting hands/ feet and taking prints. These will then be made into lovely items for parents to purchase if they wish.[No obligation or pressure is put on them to do so]. So a parent asks me today could their child do another one today as his was splodged and not picture perfect in her eyes. I explained that the child had chosen the colour, whether he wanted to choose his hands or feet and that it was entirely his own creation. She then asked another …

Hello all, I have been trying to make the leap from year one into reception. This is proving very difficult as I have no direct experience of it (and never will have any if someone doesn't give me a chance!) At last though I have secured an interview. The problem is that although I feel I have a lot of knowledge about the EYFS I fear there are probably huge gaps which will show up at interview. What sort of questions would you expect to be asked for a reception teaching job? Are there any pressing issues I should be aware of that they may want me to talk about? Any help would be much appreciated as I desperately want a reception job!

..I doubt I'd ever have to put up with a parent telling me that, after 15+ years of working with preschoolers, I have the 'theoretical knowledge'...but that "people who actually have children ... know what they actually benefit from.." - Meaning not that parents know their child best (which I agree with) ...but that people who are parents know more about what is best for children ... I am fuming and insulted !!!! After 15 years of working with one age group I think I can say I have slightly more than 'theoretical knowledge' about the needs and fascinations of this age...what parent ever cared for a 3 yr old for 15 years? !!!!! Sorry needed to rant - maybe Im…

It was a bit of fun but the other thread was a tad negative even if it was tongue in cheek, so this one is positive. The best advice I was ever given related to observations... 'Never write anything you wouldnt want a parent to read'.

hi, i know thiss has been discussed on here before but would love some help/advice. we are a committee run, charity preschool - however each year it becomes harder to find new committee and then thepeople who come onto the committee either want to change everything, even though its working perfectly well, and then run out of time doing it or get half way through and decide they dont want to finish what they have started or they fade away as the first burst of enthusiasm goes. we have decided to look into losing the committee run idea -but are not sure where to start or how to - has anyone been here that could give me some ideas, thank you x
