"Free Early Year Entitlement - Base rate: Kent County Council are increasing the base rate of funding for all 3 and 4 year olds from £3.96 to £4.00 per hour from 1 April 2018. We are doing this at a time when the funding the Council receives from the Government remains frozen at last year’s rate of £4.48 per hour. The Council believes this increase is affordable through a combination of increased take up of the 30 Hours alongside a reduction to the amount the Council is allowed to retain to fund its statutory duties. We are committed to ensuring that the maximum amount of funding the Council receives for Early Years is passed onto providers and we …

Today we opened and the pipes were frozen so we had no water - we maintained supplies from the neighbouring hall and kept the toilets filled and used anti bac for hand washing - I brought all the washing up home from lunches. I informed parents and bless them they brought us water and biscuits!! But on checking when I got home I don't think I should have stayed open and don't know what to do tomorrow - there is now way the pipes are going to defrost as we are still at -4 and due to get the bad snow tonight. I don't like to close but equally don't want to get into bother with Ofsted if we should have closed.

Getting through the TDL gradually but need a break. Getting ready for a Level 1 student too - seems so much paperwork to get through for an induction I feel I'm wading through fudge! I need cheering up and it's too early to open the gin!

Dear all I find myself in a very strange position.....It is only the 13th December but I am going to break all the rules and use the 'C' word......yes Christmas! I have been so impressed with your behaviour and the restraint with which you have conducted yourselves I am going to lift the 'C' word embargo 11 days early. Please feel free talk all things festive and may I again congratulate you on your exemplary behaviour, please all award yourselves a gold star with tinsel and mince pies etc etc Sue x

A plea for help from you lovely creative forum people. It's my dad's birthday on New Year's day and he is notoriously difficult to get presents for. So, this year I have gone for an old favourite - a selection of beers/ales (I don't drink so have no idea whether I'm using the right name! ) with a variety of interesting names. As it will be pretty obvious what they are and also because he's a lover of puzzles of all kinds I thought I'd attach a tag to each wrapped bottle with a clue to what's inside and the instruction that he can only open it if he can solve the clue. I'm thinking of things along the lines of "Ancient and strange" for Old Peculier but I'm open to any …
