9/11

I have spent this past week watching Steven Spielberg's documentary "Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero" and I have to say if you get chance and you are interested in how a society not only rebuilds but actually rebuilds with hope for the future and respect for the past, you should see if you can catch this series (6 parts) on the discovery channel. I have cried so much but have been amazed at the small things that are going into the rebuild. The people who are working on it, those who have planned it and even the story of the "survival tree" I also now feel a pull to return to New York to pay my own respects at the 9/11 memorial museum which won't open fully until 20…

Hello Everyone, I'm so excited. I'm now five and a half months pregnant and my husband and I have started to discuss when I should leave work to start my maternity leave. Our baby is due on January 8th. I can officially leave work at October half term. I teach in a Foundation Stage Unit and will have 19 boys and 11 girls in F2 full time in September. Half of my class are Summer birthdays so will be very young! I am the FSU leader and we have around 30 F1 children in addition to my 30. I would like people's advice about when they think I should leave for maternity. I know that each person is different but I would like to know what others experiences …

Hello I wondered if there was a city or large town Pre School that would be happy to exchange letters - we did this a couple of years ago with a setting who were very similar to us (village pre school) but would like to exchange news with a setting which is a little bit different to ours this time! Last time we sent a small toy for a visit and the toy came back with info about the setting and the area around it plus drawings from the children and picures of the soft toy enjoying hoimself with some activities. It got a real thumbs up from Ofsted so we hope this would be benificial for both settings Thanks

ok so here are the choices; you take over an established nursery, there are a few issues that need sorting; staff are demoralised, unguided and need some TLC, but appear keen and willing. Do you a. bowl in heavy handed from the off, tell them what needs doing, how, why were and when, almost criticising them from the off, eb tough and forceful first and then nice afterwards or b. do you take a couple of weeks to get to know the staff, make notes of things, mention the most important ones straight away, in a nice way, guiding and mentoring, till eventually over some weeks, when you have built up a good relationship with them you tell them about the not so po…

Some of you might have noticed I've been a bit "absent" the last few months, and some certainly know that I lost my beloved EYP job in our preschool at the end of March due to budget cuts. Well I'm pleased to say I'll probably be back with lots more questions in the next few months as I've just been accepted on an early years PGCE. After so many months of not knowing what I was doing with my life I'm so pleased to have a focus again, and especially pleased that I ignored some well meant advice and went for early years again rather than a general primary. At the interview it all just felt so "right" - almost not like I was being interviewed at all! Thank you for the lo…

Hi everyone, I am looking for some photos of the inside of settings, I am sure I had some off of here ages ago, I think they were taken from a book on best environments. they were lovely photos, I even printed them off and laminated them, now blow me I cant find them anywhere. They showed a lovely homecorner, with all added little bits and bobs like a real vegetable rack etc and a lovely water tray with metal resources on open book cases etc. One more thing lol (will promise to buy everyone cakes soon lol) a few years ago I used to be a member of the under fives forum, which I believe no longer exists, there was a lovely member on their called Kaz, anyway Kaz de…

Why is it when a group of women work together they always have to gossip about each other........... Why is there so much bitchiness going on, is it me or has it got worse.................. they always seem to have to talk about each other or moan about something otherwise they are not happy........... this is all my staff seem to be doing at the moment, they are worse than my teenage children!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Feel like i need to be a referee rather than a manager............ Sorry but they are driving me crazy at the moment................maybe i should them in the big brother house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to tell you all how excited i am that our new pre-school building has opened its doors for the first time today! ...not quite proper hours yet as slight delay but that will happen shortly. I've been working at pre-school for 12 years and for ten of them i have been working on a new building project (this is the 3rd plan!) so it's taken a while but really pleased it's happened at last. I have been a bit reluctant to get excited about it because everything was a bit tight on the schedules but when the children came in this morning i promptly burst into tears!..after all it was their reaction i was waiting for and they were all really pleased to be there!! I j…
