Hi guys, Hope someone can give me a little advice here with a new colleague. I am the reception teacher in a one form entry school, but this year the school is about to start the move to 2 form entry. This means that we are having 2 reception classes, and therefore recruited a new teacher. Up to now I have been the Early Years Coordinator, as my class was the early years, but requested that they try to hire someone with experience who could take over this role from me. I have recently been dealing with an ongoing family illness and I didn't want to be given such a responisibilty when I felt I couldn't put in all the additional time that the role would need. Someone…

Came across this website today that uses animation to get its message across. I like the one about the school reunion especially although it might be a bit worthy. Can't quite make up my mind! Good central messages though! You can find the website here and make up your own mind!

Hi everyone, Wow it's been a while since I started a new topic on here, had to remind myself how to!! I'm due to have a baby in 3 weeks (eek!) and am already having to think about going back to work, sadly, as we just can't afford for me to take a whole year off. My school are being fab and I'm hoping to go back three days a week from May half term next year. We are looking for a nursery placement for those three days but not sure when we should start actually looking at nurseries: do we wait for the baby to be born or is it worth making some phone calls now? This is completely unknown territory for us both, despite both of us being teachers, my mum being a…

Child Bereavement Charity

While on holiday I read this article... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-...eeded-most.html (scroll down to the article headed "Touch that can mean so much") I know we've often posted on here for help and support for bereaved children and the CBC wants to let people know what help they offer - their mission is to give teachers the confidence to help bereaved children in school. Around 53 children are bereaved of a mother or father every day in Britain on average 70% of schools have a grieving child on their rolls! There's a support line, website and schools training programme - I've bookmarked it on my compueter (God forbid I should ever need it…

Chat With New Students

Hi everyone; we take work experiences students from a local college every year. This year the college have asked me to give the new students, those just starting thei qualification, a chat on expectations of them from the nurseries, what they should expect, what they might experience etc. I know what I would say, however I would love to have some input from you lovely people on here. So if you were giving this chat what would you include and what message would you want to get across? Thank you in anticipation
