Today has been good ! First I got my Gateway feedback which was good, so I'm pleased about that..........then, I was standing in the middle of my setting looking at a huge pile of toys which were basically chucked in the middle of the floor, so I asked 'ok, WHO made all this mess??............and stood back waiting for shouts of 'not me...', so I was flabbergasted when one of the children looked up and said 'It was me and I'm just about to tidy it up, sorry'............she's 3,so I thanked her for telling me and asked if she'd like me to help her tidy, and she said......'nope, I made the mess, I should tidy it up, that's what you tell us' I didn't know wether to laugh o…

Resources Need For The Stage
by Guest- 4 replies

Hi! Does anyone have a 'stage' area within their classroom/nursery? I'd like to set up a 'stage' area at nursery (idea originated from fsf member continuous planning download!). I am having problems locating a 'stage' spotlight and wondered if anyone uses such a thing and could advise me where to buy one. My budget is very limited so it needs to be fairly cheap. Ideally, I need something that could be attached to the wall on a bracket and plugged into a socket. Any ideas?

This seems to be a facebook based fundraiser.. but thought it worth mentioning so some of you may help and spread the word. One in a Million Disney memories Once they have a million memories Disney will donate £1 million to the charity, all you have to do is share on FB. I know a lot don't use FB but for those who do please spend a few moments and help this charity.

ADHD radio programme Hope the above link works, seems to have changed since I last did a link! Rory Bremner has made this programme after a family member has been diagnosed with the disorder and finds that he too has ADHD tendancies.

You've helped me when I'm struggling with G's school before so would you mind doing it again? She's 8 and has recently been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. Part of the diagnostic process was a professionals meeting at her school which was for CAMHS to gather info for the diagnosis and also for school to get advice on how best to support her. I know that the head doesn't approve of my parenting style and, as G hides her anxiety and pain from hypermobility in school, she refuses to acknowledge that they exist and thinks I'm a neurotic parent. I was supportive about the professionals meeting because I thought it would help for the head to air her concerns to the …

Hi, my daughter is considering training to be a classroom assistant, but before she starts she's like a rough idea of what her salary is likely to be. Could any of you kind people give me some sort of 'ballpark' figure? She's currently on 18,000 so it would need to be at least that, she says. Any hope at all?

Children's Books That Made You Cry
by Guest- 14 replies

I've just read this: http://eyfs.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=30318&hl= topic and it made me think about children's books that make me cry. My favourite is The Lion Who Wanted to Love. I first heard it when a headteacher read it out in assembly. I was working at the school as supply and it was only my second or third day there and the day before Ofsted had been. The head read out the thank you letter to the children and told us all a few comments that the inspector had made about what a lovely atmosphere there was at the school, then he read the story. By the end of the story he was in floods of tears, as were most of the staff and children, including myself. It w…

After registering on the FSF a mere 14 months ago I have finally figured out how to add a pic! So here's introducing my 2 boys, Jake and ollie. Aren't they gorgeous? And they love each other very much (as you can see!). Now I just hope I've done it right and you can all actually see the pic coz otherwise I'm just rambling incoherently!

by Guest- 1 reply

Hi My 11 year old son plays in a football team and they have been told that they need a first aider who is trained in sports first aid. I have a current paediatric certificate so I have been designated first aider since last season. Just wondering if anyone has done the sports first aid course as the club have now asked me if I would be willing to do it? I always seem to get roped into these things, must be occupational hazard of working with children! Just been recruited as helper at my kids youth club as well - courtesy of my CRB. New years resolution for next year - learn to say no!
