Well today we held our nativity, the children were fabulous and all joined in and sang their hearts out, we were so proud of them. We also managed to raise £1212 which included a £500 donation!! Not bad considering we have the low number of twelve children at the moment?

So today I attended an open day at my local university on my own which was quite an achievement in itself as despite coming across as confident I'm not always but hide it well. I think travelling by my favourite mode of transport ' park n ride ' helped ?? and the bonus was it was free ! I had a nice chat with the tutor who knew my old tutor from college days back in the 80's and went along to a information session only to have my hope dashed of applying for September 2017 due to my lack of qualifications ! So now face delaying for a year so I can do an access course , feeling pleased but disappointed and lacking patience .......

Does anyone know where I can buy sellotape dispensers with a spool that doesn't come right out (and get thrown away or lost!)? We used to buy them from Staples but can't find ones with a slide out spool anymore.

Does anyone know of a piece (maybe a post on here, maybe in a book I read) about a staff team having training on the impact of their lunch routine....they were all told to come sit down, not given a choice of who to sit with, no choice of what to eat, told to eat all or no pudding etc....cant find it anywhere! Hoping it will ring a bell with someone - was quite a while ago I came across it! also does anyone have any recall of staff training activities for supporting childrens own creativity...i.e. avoiding the fluffy duck / handprints??

I have always been of the opion that it is not my place to tell parents what they can or can’t put in their child’s lunchbox but I have become quite concerned recently about what a couple of children are bringing in. It is not only the content but the amount that some children come with, it’s quite shocking. Obviously we limit what we actually let the children have and send the rest home. I am interested in what other providers do to try and combat this problem without getting parents backs up. Any ideas and advice would be most welcome.

So Jamie is at it again wanting to ban school cake bake sales. I understand that there is a weight problem with some of our children but I think he has lost the plot with this one. Bake sales happen maybe once a term in a school and actually are a brilliant and easy way to raise quite a lot of money. I think he is hypocrite, bet he serves desserts in his restaurants and has cakes in his recipe books! I remember an item on his tv show where he was cooking with his kids and they made a triple layer meringue filled with marshmallow spread and chocolate! Couldn’t be more sugar loaded if he tried. I think there are much better ways that he can use his status to educate p…
