I know this is a bit early but if you would like to do this at your setting you need a bit of advance preparation - Everyone loves advent calenders to count them down to Christmas Day. Most children adore receiving one at the beginning of December because it gets them excited for Santa coming and every surprise that they open on the way is a promise of what's to come. But if you want to try something a little different this year, you can create an advent calendar that you and your children put something into every day instead of taking something out. Read on to find out more about reverse advent calendars, and how to make one yourself! What is a reverse advent cal…

9 years now since I was diagnosed with cancer and I'm currently in good health for an old lady! I want to remind you ladies to check your boobs.......and get your men to check their dangly bags. It takes a few minutes and it could just save your life. I lost three members of my family to cancer.....and currently have another one fighting his way through it.........please, take a moment to check yourself, and get to your GP if necessary, for advice. Please, do it for me...................but do it for YOU and those you love.

I wonder how many of us are actually in the same position I am in with a delayed pension.. 6 years in my case.. with no notice or information sent - we are lucky in that my husbands pensions allowed me to stop work and for us to enjoy doing things without the work pressure as well. but many cannot.. I was not informed of any changes until the ages for pension was 66 and then only through media coverage.. I am asking others to be aware of the campaign to have an interim measure for all those who are affected.. revise the way it has been implemented and not just a full cut off for something we have all paid for.. the families seem to get a lot and the other end seem hid…

I'm having a problem replacing our art smocks. We have had ours for ages and some really need replacing now, but I can't remember the original supplier and the ones on ebay, amazon do not appear to be the same quality. I would really like velcro fastenings at the back, velcro fastenings at the wrist, and a thickish nylon fabric which has a rubbery type of backing to make it waterproof. Can anyone suggest a supplier?

So reading through the 'Friday post' it's obvious that it is not just me that is lacking motivation! I started the holiday motivated to get everything done in the first two weeks then forget about it all. The reality is I have done bits and pieces and moved the rather large pile of folders and work from the table to the desk and back again. I am nearly there, just need to tweak a couple of things on the SEF and collate my trackers and update the development plan. I have been to school all day today and am happy with the changes that I have made to layout and contionous provision. Was expecting laminating pouches to be delivered today but because I was not home they t…

OK trying to get my thinking cap on and brain is struggling! This term I really want to make sure the staff to teach the skills needed for art (there's been a bit of pinterest fever going on) so what I would like to do is create a list of all the art skills children need to acquire ...so what would you include in this list?

For the past 4 months I have been trying to re-register my setting with Ofsted as we had to change from a Ltd Co to a CIC at the insistence of the landlord. I checked several times with Ofsted and have the emails to prove this, to confirm I needed to re-register even though nothing else was changing and we had been registered for less than 12 months to be repeatedly told yes it did need a re-registration. After an £87.50 fee for the medical form and paying £220 to register I finally got the last form submitted yesterday. Today I receive a phone call from a very nice man who said 'Can I confirm the Companies House number has not changed?' I reply 'Yes, same number' he sa…
