In the unlikely event that the skies clear first thing tomorrow morning, take a look westwards to see this very rare lunar eclipse that coincides with the winter solstice. If clear, around 7.15-8.00am would be a good time! This event only happens about every 400 years!. For anyone going to stonehege this year, (wednesday), enjoy your celebrations. I cant quite make it this year.

Positive Thinking!

This is a purely selfish post and for that I am sorry, but I really, really, really would ike everyone on here, who feels they are able to have positive thoughts about the snow going away. The reason for this; I have had tickets booked for the past year for the last Simply Red concert at the O2 on Sunday and I just have to go!! I am a massive, massive, massive Simply Red fan, have been for about 20 years or so and I just have to get to London on Sunday!!! I don't live that far from London but everything is hanging on the weather!!! So please, if you feel you can, all have positive thoughts for the snow to go and for me to get to the O2, it will make one ve…

Hi Everyone Myself and my Hubby are due to go the Simply Red farewell concert tomorrow evening (depending on weather!), our babysitters have let us down (due to weather in Essex!!). My predicament being both my girls are saying that they are old enough (and sensible enough!!) to be left without babysitters!! They are 13 & 14 (just!) and when they have inset days etc I do leave them at home (the days when they wanted to play at pre school are long gone!!), but I have never left them in the evening!! Am I being over protective? We do have a friend who lives 5 minutes away and a dog (boxer who looks the part if nothing else!!). So the question is at what age?? K…

I have offered to look after my two nieces for a couple of days over the holidays for my sister as she has opened a shop with a friend. She has arranged nursery sessions for the youngest one (15 months) for a couple of days but that still leaves me with a couple of days with no idea what to do! When I looked after her sister at the same age, we would usually go out for a swim at my gym followed by lunch. However, I can't do this due to the weather/roads and it looks like we will be based around the house for a few days esp. as she recently had bronchitis. Can anyone give me ideas for what I can do with a 15 month old who is in to walking around, pens, turning th…

Party Games

Hi - can we start a collection of party games for adults and children? I like the chocolate game Place a choc bar on a plate with a knife and fork. Next to it add a pair og gloves, hat and scarf. People sit round and pass a dice round - if you shake a 6 you have to go into the middle put on hat scarf and gloves then you can start slicing up the choc bar and eating it (Mars bar good to use) Meanwhile the dice continues to go roungd the circle so if someone else gets a 6 they rush to the middle and start putting on hat scarf gloves themselves. Depending how long it takes the next person to get a 6 you can either have a bit or alot of choc. Has anyone elae pla…

Hi Again!

I haven't been here for ages so wanted to say hi. I gave up my job as manager of a pre-school back in the summer and thought that was it, I would leave the childcare profession and try something else. Six months on I find myself being drawn back in to it! I never want to be a manager again but find I do miss everything else. I have a job interview for nursery nurse on Tuesday and starting to worry I have forgotten too much! So, if anyone can fill me in on anything I may have missed this past 6 months and anything essential I should know to woo the interviewer please let me know. It's good to be back
