I locked up last night but only slid the bolt on the cage, I didnt actually slide it into the latch. This morning Max had gone. I'm so sad, I keep crying. Its minus stupid here and he's only used to sleeping with a thousand blankets (only a slight exageration) and a friend to keep warm. i've walked up and down the allotments we back onto and been in neighbours gardens. i've put posters up on lamposts and at the 2 local vets and now I cant do anything. He's microchipped so hopefully, some kind soul will find him and hand him into a vet. I cant believe how stupid I was when I put them to bed last night.

Thoughts on EYFS in Out of School settings.

Once we were a "Good" setting. When EYFS came in we were badly advised and became an INADEQUATE setting. we have now clawed our way back to being SATISFACTORY, only to find that as far as LA is concerned SATISFACTORY is just not good enough. we have sweated blood over children that we have for as little as 4 hours a week term times only, with little actual 2 way communication from the schools. If I could get rid of our lovely EYFS children and still nearly afford the rent, I would. Once that magic 31st August has passed they could be 5 years and a day, and my inspection report would be a one line yes or no. Sorry for the rant but I am now counting the day…

Volunteering In Pre-school

I live in a rural village and have done for the last 4 years since the breakdown of my marriage. I havent really got that involved in village life however I now feel that I should make some effort. I manage a nursery in town and have almost 20 years childcare experience and have managed in various settings for 12 years. I emailed the local village pre-school offering my services to help out of an evening, weekend or would even take leave to help if needed, I attached my CV so they could get an idea of who I am. I explained why I was offering to volunteer and reiterated that I wasnt looking for a paid position, I already have a job, I just want to get to know more peo…

A Christmas Message

I received this by email this morning and, in the madness that is the last few weeks before Christmas, it really made me stop and think, so I thought I'd share....... T'WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, HE LIVED ALL ALONE, IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE, MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE. I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY, WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE, AND TO SEE JUST WHO, IN THIS HOME, DID LIVE. I LOOKED ALL ABOUT, A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE, NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE. NO STOCKING BY MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND, ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES, OF FAR DISTANT LANDS. WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF …

I don't really need advice, but could do with supportive words... We've had our childminder since Son2 was 5 months, he's now in Year 3 and will be 8 in March, and I only work term-time only so now he's in fulltime school she doesn't have him so much, but she's still an important part of his life. He's had IEPs since preschool, he's on School action plus because of the outside involvement, for behaviour... I think we'll get an ASD diagnosis in the end, right now, we know about his hypermobility, distractedness, how long it takes him to do things... Childminder's had problems with her car which has lead to my having to put him in breakfast club before school…
