Clearing Snow From Playground
by Guest- 12 replies

This has really annoyed me so I am just offloading on here so I can get down to work and focus! Here in Somerset we've had a light dusting of snow, just a centimetre or so, nothing major. On dropping off my daughter at school, I saw that the playground was still covered in this light dusting, with a pathway gritted to the school buildings. I said to the school manager 'shall I go and get my shovel, I'm happy to clear it' and of course was quoted health and safety and of course I couldn't do that, and the children would have to stay inside at playtimes. Now what really winds me up is that this snow is unlikely to clear all week, because it is so cold. That me…

Weather Along My Way.... To Glasgow!

We're leaving the West Midlands approx 6am tomorrow and heading north along the M6 (194 miles)... then A74 (M) 48.8m then... M74 (29.2m) then M73, M8 and M77 for the last 14.1 miles... If anyone knows how the weather (and by that I mean snow ) is at any point I'd LOVE to know! We've packed the "just in case" supplies including the sledge, a St Bernard dog, a carrot for the snowman's nose..... We won't be risking life and limb but really feel we at least have to try to get there, God willing!! All and any feedback welcome, thanks! Nona

A while ago I mentioned a poster that we have on the wall at Preschool about preparing children for school, and someone, Inge? said that they'd been looking for the very same thing. I'm afraid it slipped my mind and I only just remembered it this week. Anyway, here it is, and I hope whoever it was who wanted it still does!

Well after reading the fantastic posts on using a salad spinner for abstract art we thought we would give it a go for a christmas card. I don't know what we are doing wrong but we put the paper in the bottom , poured on paint and spun, nothing, we put the paper in the cage as someone previously posted and poured in paint and spun and spun and spun, by this time my arm ached, took the lid off and just two blobs, so come on all you great people what exactly are we not doing right.

Laid watching the snow falling freely and am beginning to feel a little festive at last, and thinking about the shopping to be done....which quickly moved on to What would I ask The big fella for, to make early years better, my job easier etc etc Think mine would be • a clock that stopped time to allow me to 'catch up' • a force field at the door to make everyone upbeat and whizzy • self writing, accurate invoices • the funny things the children say and do, 'bottled' • a magic wand... For staffing issues, washing up, (housework, not strictly work related but would lessen the guilt a little!) What would be on yours?????

I have no idea how internet security works so this question might be a tad on the silly side, but... If I have internet security on the home pc, will that protect laptops/notebooks through the wireless connection or should thay have their own? I ask because I have a notebook that came with 2 months free protection. It runs out soon but when I looked at the disc that came with it, it dawned on me the notebook doesnt take discs! I havent opened the disc so cant read any instructions incase I need to take it back. Thank you wise ones

We have won 4 tickets to an FA cup match this weekend but it's nowhere near our home and not a team we support, so we won't be going. It's Wycombe Wanderers v Chelmsford City, kick off at 3pm, at Adams Park in High Wycombe. If anyone wants them I can get them in the post to you tomorrow.

Hi I need everyones help in voting. I belong to a small group of mums who are trying to raise funds to buy equipment for our local park. After the floods of 2007 the council got money for 8-16 year olds and put in new play equipment but took away everything else so there is nothing for the little ones. Last monday I took my playgroup children to be filmed by ITV. We are through to the final of ITV peoples millions. It will be broadcast on Thursday 25th on ITV west country. If you are watching please vote for us. I will also post the phone number on this website on Thursday. If you want more info you can look on facebook under friends of Derek Graham Memorial P…
