Does anyone remember when students in loads of secondary schools around the country went on strike? I remember the strike, we all sat in the playground and refused to go to lessons (I went to art though ) I was telling my son how people used to demonstrate and strike, like they do in France and Greece, but I cant find any trace of it on google and I cant remember what we were striking over. Anyone?

Using Reins With Preschool Child

Ok I am currently questioning everything I do due to the imminent arrival of Mrs O (still waiting!!) and my latest confusion is over using reins on outings. A little background - we are a preschool working very pleasantly at ratios of about 1:3 daily (don't ask how!). We are located in a village with a park and a multigame area within very short distance from our building, and a local library who are very accommodating. I have managed to develop a good system of outings for the children to be used particularly at the moment while our freeflow outdoor area is out of use due to construction. However this would have worked brilliantly last term when we had some lovely sensib…

Hi everyone I have stumbled across a playgroup that is currently only running for 3 mornings a week and only opens for 2 hours each day, now as a result the children don't access the NEG due to the hours and the fact that the current leader does not want the hassle. She has ran it now for over 30 years and close to retiring. Now I don't know the full background and not sure if she is reluctant to retire as she feels the setting will close. It is attached to a school as the have no nursery and the nearest nursery is 20min bus ride away. I know it's a fantastic opportunity but just not sure where to start or even how to approach her. I'm not entering this blind,…

I have just been inspired by an article on Countryfile this evening. Plastic packaging used to package some fruit ( e.g. apples, pears) and frozen food packaging used for veg, chips etc. In fact it's plastic bag packaging that if stretched doesn't break, can be recycled with plastic carrier bags! If 50 people read this post and I have taught them something they didn't know, then I will be a happy ppp. Thanks for reading! ppp
