I have been slowly working my way through info. for my new Key Children........... In answer to - Are there any important celebrations, festivals or events that you share as a family? 'Xmas, birthdays, full moons' I'm a bit stumped by this.......am I being incredibly dense (feel free to say yes! ) How do you celebrate 'full moons'? I know that I can just politely ask this mum......but wondered if anyone could enlighten me On another note - In answer to 'Things my child can do for himself' 'Toilet - if allowed to urinate outside' does she mean that he only 'wees' outside - surely not........

Gestational Diabetes

My daughter in law has just been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Just wondered if anyone knew anything about this. She is due to give birth sept 21st and had planned a home birth but this is now out of the question. She seems well in herself but this has really knocked her for six. It is her third pregnancy, totally unplanned and a big surprise as she was on the list for sterilisation. I would appreciate your input, thanks. Mary

Hi - can' anyone tell me how to renew my subscription?? I have gone to the subs page and the only option I can find which a choosing option is the LA subscription which I don't want! The only thing I can click on is the choose payment option button, and then it tells me to go back and select a subscription option. I am really confused! I have e-mailed the forum but don't know if anyone will be around to pick up the e-mail and my subscription expires today! I am notoriously hopeless with any admin/ I.T. related issues so am sure solution is simple and just me that can't do it!! lol x Would be grateful for advice

I've just seen a child with one of these, and they look ideal to use in a pack away setting. Has anyone got one/used one? Are they any good- as in sturdy enough? I wanted to grab it off the child and inspect it.......but thought that might upset the parent! At under £20 (and that's from John Lewis) seems to good to be suitable.. but they fold up so small.............and would fit so perfectly in our limited storage.

I've been intrigued by the pogo threads that have been on here over the last year, and am on the verge of buying one for each teacher in the team, so I just wondered: have they proved as perfect as they promised to be? In particular, I wondered if the photos fade over time (I had visions of using them in children's learning journeys at start of reception and the photos having faded by the end of the year) and if they are up to the extreme use they will undergo in a Foundation Stage environment?!! Are they up to printing out the sheer numbers of photos, or are they really more for home use? If you are all still happy with yours and haven't gone back to old printing m…

I know it is not about our age range, but I have found this a fascinating watch... a comment on yesterdays... really hit home, when they were trying to remove grades from the children's work and give comments instead... all said how they really needed to know the grade.. even the teacher.. the comment made is that we have our children hooked on levels, like a drug, they are addicted to them and will we ever be able to get them off this addiction.. and the method to get children to behave seemed to work... for the majority... ( secret student) does seem though the higher achievers found it hard, as they no longer dominate the classes... …

Hi all, so i have my interview for pre-school manager on friday, and i am not nervous but i do want to know if any of you can help me with what exactly is the difference between a pre-school (run by committee) and a private nursery? i have managed a private nursery before so fully understand that role and all associated with it, but i wondered what it is like to work in a pre-school..... any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated (one person gave lovely advice on a previous post of mine, but i thought as many thoughts as possible would be beneficial. thanks so much, Dawn
