New Premises

Thought I would share our new building up date with everyone. Today we had a meeting with the CC that we will be linked to and it was so encouraging to meet our partners and explore the possibilities for working together, which was fantastic and gave us all a lift. We then visited our building, which has now been painted, floor coverings have been ordered. We were really taken by the outside area, which is huge, there is a spongy tarmac surface with overhead canopy and the rest of the area is turfed, the site manager also asked us if we would like a huge tractor tyre sited in the area, as they had one going spare, which will make a brilliant digging pit (just need to …

Copying Vhs Onto Dvd Is It Legal?

Our old TV with video is on it's last legs so we have just bought a flat screen TV with DVD for nursery (the logistics of using the PC and whiteboard are a nightmare). Most of what we watch is on video which is not available on DVD and what we can buy is VERY expensive. Does anyone know if we are able to copy onto DVD legally? The kinds of programs we want to save are Storytime and some old Playschool programs. I know the other option is to have a video player conected up and we might have to do that. All advice gratefully received. Many thanks Anne

Hi all, I am currently off work - have been signed off with stress for the last three weeks and at least the next 4. I have been having a really hard time of it feeling guilty etc about work and very sorry for myself. However i just sat down at my computer and looked out into the garden and a bird is busily making a nest in our bird box and it just made me smile - we have had that box there for several years and no birds have ever used it before and now just when I needed a distraction he is busily collecting things in the garden for his nest! Sorry for the random post but it made me smile! Ems x

My glasses got broken in half today when they got thrown across the room... Just wondering if you have any ideas about school / NUT etc insurance paying for them to be replace / contributing to their replacement. I phoned NUT and they were very quick and said they'd send me the information - just wondered if any of you have more information more quickly than this? Thank you in advance!

Oh help! I'm getting myself in a state over something I've found out and don't know whether I've done the right thing or not... Today a newly registered childminder was talking about her looming Ofsted inspection - due either Thursday or Friday this week, or Wednesday next week. She said she'd got all her policies etc in place and was just putting everything together in a folder. Trying to be helpful (wish I hadn't now! ) I started to run through a list of things to include... CRB, public liability, car insurance, MOT certificate blah, blah. She queried the car insurance & MOT and I explained that the Inspector would be looking to see that she had busin…

Qualifications

We have just had our new training guide out and it says that they are only going to fund NVQ4, and the foundation degree if you are going to do EYPS, surely this will mean that if people don't want to do EYPS they will no longer get any qualifications higher than a level 3........is this the same in other areas i'm really shocked, How does this make for a more highly qualified work force?
