hi - can someone help me - we have several children who also attend other settings - we have sent out letters to parents asking for details of other setting and keyperson and permission to contact these. we have now contacted most - and have had only one reply - this one has now mentioned that as we share the care of the child we should have the same next steps ( next area to progress in ) and should work together on these. is that right - i assumed that we would just share any information we felt relevant / wow moments etc - is this right or am i on wrong track?

Staff Suitability (when Already Employed)

reading through the articles on OFTED inspections. I was struck by one remark that a setting now had annual health reports on staff to ensure continued suitability. How can you do this. Can you dismiss someone who becomes mentally ill (schizophrenia, for example). I tried to dismiss someone but cocked it up, she brought in the union and now I have to be very careful about discrimination against her. Anyone's advice on policies/practice in this area would be very welcome. Ps I know this is a closed forum so I felt able to disclose this here

Hi everyone, Im having a little dilema and thought where else to come and ponder but here! lol! I'm an NQT, I work in a lovely school which I love and don't really want to leave. But, Im on a temporary contract because the school is not full and low numbers for this years intake could mean goin back to split year classes rather than single as is now - whih then obviously means less teachers. Im debating applying for other posts with a permanant contract so that i don't feel quite so uneasy (it does seem to be all i can think about even though il know in march what the intake is). But as is always the case......theres a job come up at a school (for sep) which sound…

Hi guys just a real quick question and just need a little clarification please. I have been teaching reception since September and i'm loving it.....so far while teaching them psrn, i have had them all gather round on the carpet, me included, and i do a little input, makig it practical and of course a level appropriate for each child. Once we have finished on the carpet, the chn go off & engage in self chosen activities. I have now realised, that we are half way through the year, and up to now the chn havent done any 'work' as in follow up work to the teaching activity at all. After the input is it a good idea to have small groups to work with a TA or mys…
