I am grappling with our Borough's proposal for the Single Funding Formula, and the letter I received with the information pack says "this paper is currently subject to the statutory 'call-in' period following Cabinet's approval..." I've binged and googled and even wikied (Mrs Weasley showed me how!) but can only find reference to the call in periods of other briefing papers from other authorities. Do any of you clever people know what this 'call in period' is for? The letter goes on to say that the consultation period begins at the end of the call-in period (which is today), and I know that this is the important part for me to take notice of so that I get my resp…

Hope you're all enjoying half term. Just thought I'd share my guilty secret... I didn't do any work yesterday! YAY! I went for a lovely long walk in the country (first time I have managed it since I moved here in Sept!). Back to the grindstone today though, with occasional visits to the forum of course.

Hi everyone, On the 9th of December we will welcome another choccie lab into our family. I have one boy already, he's two and called Rockie, which somehow has been translated as Dills (dont ask as I cant remember why). We are so excited and just kitted out his doggie crate with soft blankets, toys and vet bed, which Dills is now sleeping in he he. We are trying to think of a suitable name for our new arrival, with noodles and buttons making the shortlist, just wondered if anyone else had any ideas, have attached a photo of our Dills for you all to see how beautiful he is and one of the puppy, although he is still very young and looks a little squashed at the momen…

From my Father in law - who is married to a German! The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that would be known as "Euro- English". In the first year, 's' will replace the soft 'c'. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard 'c' will be dropped in favour of the 'k'. This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will …

Hi everyone, Thought I would bring you all up to date, although I dont crop up in many of the posts, I am an avid reader and without this place dont think I would half the practitioner that I am. Anyway my setting sent me on a management course, which was the most inspirational course I have been on in a long time and it led to me reflecting on my role and responsibilities as play leader. I took on the role in Feb 2007 and have worked tirelessly with a wonderful team ever since, we have had our ups and downs, I have said goodbye to two practitioners, one was dismissed and one left, which I found hard to deal with as a new leader, but, as I am passionate about earl…
