Hi all When I checked my grandson's school bag this afternoon (looking for homework ) ........I was really surprised to find a 'note' that said....... Our Harvest Festival will be held etc.etc.............Children should bring £1.00 into school tomorrow - the Farmer's Market will make up boxes of 'Harvest' goods - these will as usual be distributed among the village elderly...... WHAT!!! - How will the children feel any connection to the boxes and indeed to the Harvest Festival.........children have always, always taken in their own offering - the sight of a 5 year old struggling along the road and into school with a huge marrow, is in my humble opinion - fa…

First day of next phase of parenting............. Took my youngest to Uni yesterday which was very exciting and also very sad. I saw her settled in before we left which was fine. Had a bit of snivvle last night (as did hubby) but today....... I know our lovely children are only with us for a short time, on loan if you like, but no one warned me I'd feel like this What's that song title? 'If I could turn back time....' ENOUGH!! I thought I'd compile a list of positives to carry me and anyone else struggling through this empty nest phase.... 1. No more hunting for my tweezers 2. No late night taxi runs 3. No more long blonde hairs in my hairbr…

Worrying basically....after a meeting last week staff and myself and the children decided we would try altering the layout a little to make resources more available for self-chosen activities.....Friday me and the children changed a little bit of this and that and yesterday I moved the tables slightly....it is not dramatic and we are reviewing it with the children throughout the week to try to include them and do this gradually.....well I am now dreading going in to work as I feel the wrath of the Admin Manager.......I know she has said that she now understands her role albeit begrudgingly...but even Friday after this was said she came in and…

Hi all Haven't been around for a while - other things going on. Just wanted to discuss an incident which happened to my 9 year old son at school today: he was playing footsie with his best friend at the end of the lesson - his fault, I wont defend him. But the teacher in the class walked over to him and before saying anything, she grabbed his arm just below his shoulder and swung him around. She then said that if he did it again he would be sorry. My son was absolutely in bits when he came out of school but I didnt find out the whole story until tea-time and its Friday so nothing I can do until Monday morning. He is a quiet boy - he only transferred to middle school…

Hey everyone, In my school our PPA time is covered by a TA (who basically 'controls' the children) and then 2 teachers - 1 for gymnastics and 1 for Spanish. At the end of the day the TA is alone with the children and releases them to the appropriate 'grown-ups'. My PPA is in the afternoon and the following morning one of the dad's of child came to see me saying that he was a little late to pick up his child yesterday and he found him walking in the ROAD outside of school. I felt awful! I explained that it was PPA and that the TA was qualified and that it would be dealt with etc but I felt so so so bad. Luckily, the family have been OK with it (which I am well surpris…
