My nearly-5-year-old has got to that stage of really loving jokes, enjoying being told them and making up her own (which are more hilarious by virtue of the fact that they aren't strictly funny!) Her favourites are: What did the grape say when the elephant sat on him? Nothing, just a little whine! What did the submarine say to the ship? I can see your bottom! What did the mummy tomato say to the baby tomato? Ketchup! Obviously these are beginning to wear a little thin so I wondered what your favourite simple jokes are?

I have some good news. I went for an interview this morning 2 posts were on offer full time TA in Foundation Stage and part time TA in Year 1. I missed out on the TA in FS BUT I got offered the part time TA in Year 1 because of my extensive knowledge in Early Years. SOOOOOOOOOO in September I have a job to go to. I am going to take a break from more degree work BUT go and get my GCSES in English and Maths plus hopefully in Sicence tooo. Beth.

Feeling Really Down...

I am feeling really, really down at the minute. My new Reception class are absolute terrors. I am in shock by how badly behaved a lot of them are. I have only been teaching 3 years and I really feel like I am being expected to know so much and I just don't!! My first year was in year 2 - I had a few problem children but I managed to really turn them around and was really proud of myself for that. My second year was with year 1 - again I found this quite tricky at first (after seeing off a clever bunch of year two children to be greeted with a not so clever bunch of year one children was quite a shock to say the least!) However, the developed into a fantastic class …

Timmy Time Freebies

Quite chuffed - today in my post I received some Timmy Time postcards, colouring sheets, a poster and bookmarks. Yes it's promoting their new book range but my children love Timmy Time and will be so happy with their bookmark and colouring sheet! I had a pile of post to sort through - most of which I don't need e.g. info from a company that sell pretend grass ('NoMow' if you're interested) and lots of companies trying to sell me outdoor canopies even though they address it to a Village Hall. It's nice to get something free from time to time! Timmy week next week I think - I'd better watch an episode to get to know the characters! ppp

Well I have just finished dealing with a man at the door who had had too much to drink, fallen over our wall and hit his head! He was obviously confused and also not mentally stable, but not aggressive poor chap. My tea towels came in handy and it isn't the first time I've used them to staunch blood. His confusion led us to call the Police and we had 2 police cars, a paramedic vehicle, and eventually an ambulance, in our drive. He told me he had come to sleep on his Father's grave. We live by a cemetery. Still he's gone to hospital now. He had a hospital band on so must have been there earlier today, and his head was covered in cuts and stitch marks. The Police were reall…

HI with reference to my dismissal yesterday My sister (who works at the nursery) informs me that tonight an emergency staff meeting was called and staff were told that i had been dismissed from work because i had breeched a policy and broke the law.... i am not sure if this is a breech of my own personal confidentiality, and they should have realised that divulging this to all staff would make my sister and mum feel very uncomfortable. what do you guys think?, can they legally do this.... is it not blighting my name????? Dawn
