I've not been around for a while as things have been very busy at work and home - end of year etc. I have also been preoccupied with a problem at work - I was accused of smacking a child in our care. It was an awful time for me - suspended and waiting for the meeting to decide my future. Last week I was informed that I had been completely cleared of any wrongdoing whatsoever and the allegation was made maliciously and purely as a counter against concerns which the staff have had about the child (the children are on CP and the relationship with the family has always been strained). While I feel relieved that the situation has been resolved, I am considering whether I wan…

HI we have had one child in our nursery who has had confirmed swine flu, we also have four parents (both husband and wife sets) and one member of staff's mum who has had swine flu. (one parent came into nursery yesterday with swine flu to drop her child off, she was promptly asked to leave!!!!! (ther parents that is) there is like no guidance on what to do re the children. the doctors are saying that if children are symptom free then they should come to nursery. one parent has become angry at the fact that children are coming into nursery when there parents have swine flu.... what do we do.... we are kind of working on the theory that one in three may get i…

Well....only the 'oldies' amongst us will have 'special memories'...so not expecting a lot of replies there! Does anyone think it could all of been a hoax?..........oh I really hope not My 'special' memory is of staying up to watch it with my dad...my brother, sister and mum not interested - all in bed......my dad and I rarely saw eye to eye at the time......with hindsight I can now appreciate that he was unwell and a wayward teenage daughter was all he didn't need (and I was pretty wayward! ) Anyway this was a moment we got to share.....just the two of us! He was absolutely passionate about all things 'space' and he passed that on to me. After he died we d…

I just thought that I would write and say that when my membership runs out on Thursday I wont be renewing. I've decided that despite being a member since 2003, my time on the FSF, at least for now, is over. I no longer teach in the FS, despite working with children who are developmentally in the EYFS and I just don't feel the forum is right for me anymore. The shift away from teachers to all the other settings and not working in mainstream means I have so little to say anymore. Just thought I'd say bye and thanks to all those who have supported me through happy and some very sad and difficult times both personally and at work. If anyone wants to keep in touch and …

Miserable End To The Year

Playgroup finished for the year today but it sort of fizzled out. Swine flu reached the primary school on Tuesday and a lot of people panicked. In the early hours of wednesday morning I came down with a d and v bug. So at playgroup the chair and my deputy notified the parents that swine flu was in school and that I was off sick. I think people thought that I might have swine flu, so most of the children went home. For the rest of the week there were only 4 children at each session. Therefore there was no end of term celebration and I was stuck at home not even having the chance to say goodbye to the 2 leavers who stayed till the end. I really feel cheated. Hope everyon…
