Hi Just wanted to share my good news.....I have just been offered, and accepted, a job as manager of a pre-school starting September. Some of you may recall I have been looking for a suitable position for some time now, having turned one offer down and been unsuccessful in others. Perseverence is a quality I have luckily! So keep on trying to everyone in a similar position. I have been involved with my current setting for 19 years one way or another so it will be a bit of a wrench. Already had some lovely comments from parents. Seems a bit surreal at the moment. I am looking forward to the challenge, I know from reading all the posts on here it will not …

So I came home from worked and logged on, thinking I would add my thoughts to a tribute to Michael lackson......I was so sure someone would have started a thread but no.......so I will start it! I know that he had got weirder than weird in recent years.......but......I was lucky enough to see him perform in '86/87...he was FANTASTIC! My youngest son is a massive fan.....thought I should text him this morning - couldn't think what to say - didn't want to be gushingly sentimental......so I just sent a message saying......'That's bad!' - knew that he would 'get it' - he texted back 'yeah know anyone who wants a couple of concert tickets!'........that's my boy! A…

After 6 months of raising concerns about their sons delayed development and getting nowhere I gave notice to a family on Friday. During the 6 months I've involved NCMA, Ofsted, my childminding Network, the family Health Visitor, the pre-school senco, the Early Years Specialist Team and still the parents say "he's ok" I have 14+ years experience as a Mum and childminder but this has really knocked my confidence and made me doubt myself and the "gut instinct" that tells me all is not well. The other professionals have backed me but, without parents consent, our hands are tied. Concerns aren't enough to start safeguarding procedures. I've lost sleep, shed tears …

My little girl has been to a ballet class that has come in to her nursery school once a week for the past year. They do a little ballet, some of the Sticky Kids stuff and she's really enjoyed it. I don't know whether she's particularly good at it, but I know she loves it and now she's leaving nursery to go to school, we want to find a ballet class for her. The people who come in to the nursery do a next level class which apparently is Cecchetti ballet - I know very little about ballet and just wondered if this would be a good ballet class for Rosa? Does anyone have any tips on what i should be looking for in ballet lessons for children her age, bearing in mind that I'm no…

Just wanted a bit of a moan if thats ok! I am taking my rather large and although lovely quite tricky (bless em) reception class to the zoo tomorrow. I have been planning this for well over 2 months, sent out permission forms with dates on that i wanted to recieve forms and money by(June), sent out free school meals forms so we knew how many packed lunches the kitchen needed to make, and asked the correct amount of adults to come. Spent the weekend sorting out groups so as to make sure the little darlings would not upset one another and everyone was in a group with someone they had a good relationship with. Then this lunchtime 2 of my adult helpers pulled out, and i am st…

Having been a member of this wonderful forum for a long time, there are now so many members that I am finding it difficult to keep track of who is who. We have a brilliant introduce yourself area but I thought it would be interesting to have a quick roll call so please just add your name and your setting type, to help us all identify one another! Thanks.

Just finished my last transfer record! What a relief! Although most parents who have received them have told me they don't have a clue what it means even though I did write a letter explaining what it meant and as yet have had none back. My situation is till hanging in the balance, health has slightly improved though. Just counting the days off now until the end of term and then counting down the days until my well earned holiday at the end of July. ppp
