Have caught some of the coverage of the 65th Anniversary of D-Day. Is it just me.......makes me cry when they interview the veterans......wonderful men.......I have so much respect for them. I'm not given to weeping - but I find this sort of thing, especially the personal recollections incredibly moving. Gordon Brown's 'speech' started with the words "65 years ago, in the thin light of a grey dawn" isn't that brilliantly descriptive.....I was so sure that someone else must of said it in history and that he had 'borrowed it' that I 'googled it' and .........no I think it's all his! We've had workmen in the nursery for the last few days fitting a door to allow the 3-5's to have free flow to the garden (thank you Capital Grant Funding), unfortunately they hit a few snags and didnt finish yesterday as planned. The children are due to move back into the room on Monday so they have had to come back today; with me in tow! Still it gives me chance to catch up with a few bits and bobs uniterrupted oh yes and to do a bit more on the SEF!! They tell me they should be finished in about an hours time!!!

My local 'polling station' very busy today - how interesting.......I imagined the opposite might happen and that people would feel they were 'tired' of all politicians and possibly stay away in protest! I have voted, but as regular forum members know........ I do like to have my say!!! Sunnyday

Today in WH Smiths, a little girl, no older than about 3 was throwing a bit of a tantrum. I was watching her for a while, and then her (I presume...) Grandmother noticed me watching. I gave her a little smile and then she turns to the child and says "Look! That lady is looking at you because she's so disgusted at how naughty you're being" I felt so bad for this little girl, who just looked at me totally confused and proceeded to cry even more! I felt like saying to her "Actually I work with children, and I've seen much worse. And I don't even blame her for throwing a tantrum because you're not exactly being very nice are you?" Haha. And I can't believe how bad s…

Hi everyone - nothing to do with Early Years - I apologise for that. When my father died, mum decided to move into 'sheltered accomodation' - she has her own flat within a large building that has communal areas for the residents to gather together if they wish to. She is very happy there, has made great friendships and has a wonderful social life! She has just rung to say that she is scared - she has heard on the local news, that a man has, as she put it 'got in' to another sheltered housing building (about 6 miles from hers) and stolen an elderly ladies handbag - she had 'put up a fight' and apparently he dragged along - breaking her arm and causing carpet burns…
