The One That Got Away!

Hi everyone Just wanted to thank all the people who gave me advice etc about my up and coming interview for a nursery post with TL2. Although i performed well on the day and got great feed back i did not get the job I'm not down beat...i did my best and they said I struggled with management questions.....which as i have no management experience i'm cool with.. I will be trying to improve this side of things and am a firm believer that 'What is mean't to be will be'. But just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to all that helped.

I've Got A Job!

After my observation the other week, I finally had my interview today and I got the job!!! The interview was tough, but managed to stay calm and collected and apparently answered all the questions very well. Phew!! I'm really pleased as I have had three years out of teaching and thought it would be really hard to get back in esp as the competition for jobs is high. I've done supply for most of the year and am so looking forward to having my own class again. I'm really looking forward to being able to decorate my own classroom and do my own displays my way once again! I'm definitely a subscriber to the theory of there being the right school out there for you…

Morleys Furniture

Hi, just wondered if anyone had bought furniture from Morleys. I'm looking for wooden furniture and I know lots of you have Community Playthings furniture, but that's a little too expensive for us. There is so much in so many catalogues it's hard to know where to go, but I'm liking what I see in Morleys. Many thanks, jackie.

Sad News Today

We heard today that the Dad of one of our little girls was found dead in suspicious circumstances last Friday. We were all so shocked. I was only speaking to him the other day. The little girl will most likely be coming back to playgroup on Wednesday so if anyone has any tips on how to deal with this,I would be grateful. She absolutely idolised her dad so it will be very hard for her. When the children were going home this morning one of them said 'my daddy's picking me up today' and we all thought of that little girl who won't be able to say that anymore. Needless to say we all had lumps in our throats when we heard that. Mary

This saturday one of my staff members (and a dear friend) will be pounding the streets of London in her bra - honestly I have spoken to her about this sort of behaviour before!!! But seriously - she has been training hard for this event for 'ages' - but unfortunately due to injury she was unable to complete the 20 mile walk that she had planned for a week ago. For those of you that don't already know - the moonwalk is a course of 26.2 miles! She is excited now but a little nervous too. I know that lots of you will have been 'touched' by Breast Cancer in one way or another. I would love to be able to give her some words of encouragement from you (I will pri…

This week I had the dubious pleasure of meeting a Health and Safety Officer, she had come to inspect our Village Hall and as Secretary for the Management Committee I was required to show her round and answer her questions - eeeek! This took over an hour and I could feel myself slowly losing the will to live! Thankfully under 'action to be taken' she has recorded 'none' - but she had some ludicrous reccomendations - apparently we only have to 'consider' these - hmmm - oh that was me considering!!! She had asked me if anyone ever "worked off ladders in the hall" - I told her no and so she questioned how the first floor windows were cleaned - I said - oh the wind…

My daughters school is having an Arts Week and on Thursday they are doing a 'fashion' parade. The theme for her class is deserts and/or oasis and she has decided she wants to dress up like a cactus! Now we can get green clothes but I just can't think what to use for the prickles. I only found one handmade costume searching on the internet which was a cardboard base, green paper, bubble wrap and tooth picks. I just don't think the tooth picks would be very suitable for school. Has anyone else got any clever ideas that won't take too long to do or be expensive or dangerous!!
