For those of us lucky enough to have a week off now........ I hope your week is full of the things that you like to do :1b I can't avoid the old TDL this week - but I am going to the Kent Garden Show on Sunday and I have two lunch dates booked with two different groups of friends, need to get some serious gardening done too - will be busy, busy, busy! :1b

I know that many/most/all of you work at home. How do you do it? I am really struggling to motivate myself to do anything and I have so much to do. I am worn out already (day 2!) and am getting poorly again - have had 3 weeks without a cough but I just don't feel like doing anything in the evenings - even prepping properly for tomorrow! Any suggestions? I try all sorts of strategies from making myself just do 15 minutes of something to extensive and meticulous TDLs but right now I just don't want to!!

"Far too early, the deadly tester comes along...and tells us we've failed" A blog from Chris Riddell and David Almond. Think this says it all, just what we are all thinking... the joy of language and testing destroys it.. http://chrisriddellblog.tumblr.com/post/144796721044/david-almond

Looking for inspirational fun listening activities for pre-school children. Does anybody use the BBC school radio. Have found a few catchy sessions which I thought I could download on to our story phones. Our children are really into dancing and have been listening to Latino music this week which has been great fun. Any ideas or thoughts would be gratefully received.??

Right folks,i am tasked with making a few flag posts ( the sort that has an arm at the top,for festival flags)...................and i thought I'd use thick bamboo canes, but they are prohibitively expensive ( unless you know a secret supplier!)................I'm looking at the poles being maybe 10-12 feet high so the poles need to be strong..............any ideas????

I swear by the gods of snot that if one more parent walks in here, picks the hard snot off their child's face and flicks it across the room, I will launch myself at them and rip their nose off their face!! Or, worse, the ones who wipe a fully loaded child's nose onto their OWN skirt, tshirt etc. I am often heard bellowing, 'we have tissues for that, PLEASE use them'.......and am almost always ignored. There. I feel better now.

There's so much to worry about in Early Years at the moment ... financial viability, changes to qualifications, Baseline assessments (or not), staff recruitment - the list goes on and on and on. So I thought we should cheer ourselves up and remind ourselves why we are doing this mad thing that we do! I'll start .... next post ...
