Am feeling more than a little depressed at going back to work (sorry if you feel I'm ungrateful what with the long holiday I've had ). So I'm wondering if a mooch around the exhibition/show might cheer me up - is anyone planning to go on the Saturday? I know its London again - but it would be nice to meet some other Forum addicts if you're going... Maz

I'll say now, I'm not sure if this is in the appropriate forum, so please move it into the correct forum if it needs! As some of you may know, I was offered the job of Deputy Manager at a private Nursery in early December, only to have the position withdrawn at the end of December (full details in this thread) after my induction being re-arranged repeatedly. Since then, I've noticed that the position of Deputy Manager is still being advertised. I was a bit baffled, but ignored it and I've managed to get myself supply work to tide me over while I look for more permament teaching posts to start my NQT Induction Year. Yesterday evening, I had a phonecall from the …

Child Tax Credits Rebate Available
by Guest- 18 replies

Hi all I was informed by a colleague of mine that there is a child tax credit rebate available. Apparently there was a grant available the year before they brought out the current tax credits and it wasnt very well publicised. For those people who have children born between 6th April 2002 and 5th April 2003, this grant is still available. Some people may already have received this as their tax code was adjusted to allow for it in that year, but if you cannot remember, u can still apply and they will check it for you. Going by the website the grant could be between £529 and £1040. Its costs £94 plus VAT which is their charge for admin and processing. A…

Words Of Comfort? 1 2

Hi everyone I really messed up today. Don't want to go into too many details but my actions could have put a child at risk. They didn't thank goodness and everyones absolutely fine and I'm the only one that knows things could have gone so drastically wrong. I didn't follow my own procedures for which there is no excuse - I can try and justify it by saying I was under pressure, over worked, tired, not well etc but I feel terrible, absolutely terrible. It's given me a real crisis of confidence - am I good enough at what I do, should I be put in charge of these very precious, vulnerable children? I know I won't be able to sleep tonight for mulling it over and wondered if an…

So MrsWeasley and I are watching Come Outside on CBBC. We loved watching Auntie Mabel's and Pippin's adventures when she (MrsWeasley, not Aunti Mabel) was small. In fact we even met Pippin once at an RSPCA fete... Anyway, when Auntie Mabel just said "time to fly" we were talking about who would fly the plane. When I said that Auntie Mabel didn't actually fly the plane herself, she was very disappointed. Then lo and behold, when we saw the back view of Auntie Mabel 'flying' the plane it was obviously a man... So - which childhood illusions have you had shattered and how old were you when you were so cruelly disillusioned? Maz
