Ok so it's now March, so not quite a new year any more, more of a 'feet under the table' year. so ill be in chat this evening from about 8pm. If you would like to keep me company, put the world to rights, have a cuppa or a glass of something, do pop along and say hi. All welcome. Bring biscuits, or cake, or chocolate, or if you really must, fruit or carrot sticks.

Thought I would share with you something that an older sibling said to me today which made me sad and a bit mad! She's in year 1 and was talking to her brother who's in Nursery. She said: "we're not allowed to paint in our class without the teacher helping us." It seems like we give the children the independence and choice for it to be taken off them later on. I know that life is different in year 1 but it just seems like a backwards step. :-(

A parent told her she feels her child is being picked on by the manager after the manager had refused to give the child a reward when everyone else got one. The parent asked that the level 2 didnt tell the manager about this conversation. Level 2 was really uncomfortable hearing this so told me. I wrote down everything and asked her to do the same. I spoke to the parent on Monday morning. She confirmed what level 2 had told me adding the manager had said …

HI all I have finally decided that I can no longer continue at the setting I am currently manager of. It is time to move on. It has all, as usual, got rather complicated, wont bore you all with that I am sure you can all imagine. Anyway long and the short of it I am leaving at Easter, not what I originally planned but it is what it is. So I now have an interesting dilemma. I am incredibly passionate about early years and I don't want to leave the sector so to speak, but I also don't want to just go and work for another nursery. Yes partly that might be from having been a manager I am not sure how I would feel working to someone else's rules/ ways of doing …
