Dear Santa Claus, So my friend has asked me to write to you... I have to confess it’s been hard to know what to say. Mainly because like most adults I feel preposterous asking anything of you because our time with you is surely done. Now we get our own presents, control our own fates, take responsibility for our own actions, and live in the world we have created...so it’s not for us to turn around and plead for your help with the environment, the migrant crisis, public health, education, hunger among the poor, human rights, fundamentalism and wars. Though God knows we need all the help we can get with all these man-made problems and more. And it’s not that you aren’t…

I've posted this in the Lounge area as I know it's not seen by non-forum members and I need a moan! When you have handed a child over to a parent at pick up time at what point do they become the parents responsibility? Our parents just don't seem to be bothered about their little ones this year - they are too busy chatting to care whether their little one has run out of the building and it's driving us mad - why can't they see their child running across a car park when there's lots of movement going on?! We are scared that there might be an accident, but our policy states children are parents repsonsibility once we hand them over. I am a H&S nightmare kin…

hello all we are about to purchase some new tables for our studio area and at the moment are looking at Community playthings extending table. however, the wooden chairs are a little out of our price range. I have seen some wooden ones on the other websites but the colour does not quite match the lighter beech colour of the community playthings table. I was also thinking that maybe wooden stools could work. Has anyone got CP table and other wooden chair or stool that kind of matches in colour? I would be grateful of any advise. Thanks

My sister sent me her Christmas and birthday list the other day. Among other things it included "An 8th day to the week" and "Sanity". I thought as a bit of a joke present I'd have a go at giving her those things. I thought I could mock up an 8-day week calendar fairly easily and then thought of a Box of Sanity. Thought I could put in some nice treat things (chocolate!), bubble bath etc. but also some silly things to keep her sane. I was thinking kind of the opposite of that saying 'Mad as a box of frogs'! Any ideas for what could go in it?

I've come to realise over the years that we are quite a collection of bookworms here at FSF and as I'm procrastinating about reading papers for a governors' meeting I'm wondering if you have any particular favourites you revisit regularly at Christmas. My mum often asks if I've read my Christmas books yet. Some of mine are just nostalgia and childhood memories others just have the odd really good Christmas scene in them! Here are some of mine. The Children of Green Knowe Box of Delights The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper The Christmas Mystery by Jostein Gaarder (I read this like an Advent calendar as there is one chapter for each day of advent) Through a glass …
