Energy Drinks.

We had a very worrying incident yesterday in playgroup. A child became quite pale & was trembling so much so that he could not hold a cup with out spilling it. Contacted his mum who instantly left home to collect him. In between mum arriving & my phone call I was informed by a staff member that the child was seen drinking a blue energy drink before the session started. I asked mum and she denied it but burst into tears. The child was taken to the doctors and checked over & mum was told he had over heated. The energy drinks in our local shop do not carry any warning such as not suitable for children. I would of thought it was common sense not to allow a 4 ye…

STRESS?! Never felt like this before & i'm sure it's stress related. Symptons: generally feeling fed up, tired all the time, bored, not wanting to go out, no interest in work related things, missed periods. Diagnosis: STRESS...due to too much work, moving house, E123 & E124. Any advice to help ease the symptoms?

According to today's Nursery World, Ofsted inspectors in early years and social care may be going on strike, given that their pay talks have broken down. Now this led me to wonder. You can see parents being up in arms and protesting when teachers go on strike, thus adding pressure for the employers to settle... But Ofsted? Strikes may take place in May, after the ballot which takes place next week. Maz

I supervise a charity run pre school and provide snack for the morning session, this includes breadsticks or crackers, toast etc. and also some fruit, I visited a friends pre-school recently (attached to a school) and they are given free fruit for all of their children each session, can anyone tell me if this is just for pre- schools or nurseries attached to schools or can anyone claim for free fruit ?? even though I have replied to things on the site this is my first time of doing this bit so i hope i've done it right!!

Well the deed is done, my external assignment for my DPP is in the post. I'm not totally happy with it but it needed sending. I just need to wait until the end of August to get my mark, in the mean-time I need to complete the last unit. It is an option one and I originally chose 'working in a parent run setting' but i am thinking of changing it to the 'SEN' unit. I'm thinking that the SEN unit will be more useful, what are peoples thoughts? Sal

What a perfect day! Our little village school has been celebrating our connection with the writer Alison Uttley, author of the Little Grey Rabbit and Sam Pig stories, who was once a pupil here. The Reception and Year 1 children baked bread and made butter for ham sandwiches and we set off to find the special stone 'armchair' that she sat on to eat her lunch behind the school. We climbed up the bank between the bluebells and past the badger set with the schoolhouse cat following us and sat in the sunshine. All we could hear were the birds... And of course an Alison Uttley story to finish off our exciting quest. It's one of those wonderful times I will always remember. And …
