What An Afternoon !

We have had a very busy afternoon today. The educational psychologist was in to see one of our boys who is autistic so everyone was aware of a stranger in the room. After snack we decided to go outside. One little girl burst into tears and said that she didn't want to go outside because she was frightened. When I had calmed her down, I managed to get it out of her .......... she was scared of her hands getting cold !!!!! I did eventually get her outside and then my deputy came to get me because one of the boys had decided to put someone else's slippers down the toilet He had put one in each toilet and was running between the two flushing the loos. It was a nice end to…

Really Silly Question
by Guest- 18 replies

This is going to sound silly but I am getting into a real pickle with it. We have had a student in who has said that we should have a home corner which is always available to children and a seperate role play area. We are in a village hall so everything has to be stored into a cupboard, the children have asked everyday for the role play hospital which we have got out each day. Student said we should always get the house, cooker, fridge etc for home corner out also and do this every day. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Many thanks in advance Claire x

Hi guys, I've just had my moderated marks back for my first 2 units in my DPP, I have got 87% and 94%, so 2 A's. I would like to say thankyou to you all as I got lots of tips by searching around on the forum and when I asked questions your answers made me think about things that little bit harder. So thanks again for all your support and wish me luck for my external assignment (due in May). Sal

by Guest- 44 replies

Have been back at work for two weeks now, having had our easter break earlier than most. The last two weeks I have been feeling absolutely Kn*****ed and wanting to come home and sleep in the afternoons. (pre-school open AM only). All staff feel the same. I think its because we have started doing the 3 hours. Anyway yesterday I booked my summer holiday - we are going to Turkey in a 5* all inclusive hotel. Can't wait. We go the weekend the kids breakup from school (11th July) and stay for two weeks. We have always been self catering, but I thought what the hell, lets push the boat out a bit. Went to Turkey last year and really loved it. Going to a di…

What A Day!

Hi guys, Today has been terrible. I am looking after a yr2 boy at the moment who is working to achieve reception level who has severe communication problems and anger managment issues. He has been accepted into a SEN school for Sepember but his mom has already told him. For the last few days he has been really unsettled but today has been particularly bad. He kept lashing out at other children for no apparent reason and when he had been told off he ran into a corner, usually he calms himself down, but today he did not. I was busy sorting out an upset child, I was crouched on the floor, the chap runs at me and kicks me in the back, luckily I managed to stop myself f…
