A big thank you to all who offered advice and words of wisdom when I recently posted asking for help regarding my upcoming interview. It was today and did not go quite as I had hoped, I was extremely nervous!! However I got the job. The post is manager of childcare in a family centre. It is going to be a huge learning curve and hardwork as I am in the middle of my degree as well. You may be hearing from me alot more from now on with many questions!!!!!!

Hi, I am anNQT in a part-time nursery attached to a church of England voluntary assisted school. Money is scarce in the school as we have just had a new nursery built. As a matter of interest can I ask how your FS budgets and nursery fund/school fund is allocated and if you get a set amount each term. I am finding myself having to pay out for a lot of little extras myself through lack of finances-is this the norm and part of being a teacher? Thanks Lorraine

Forest Schools

This term we have started our forest school and I was wondering if other have experince of this? Every Friday one of the three staff takes their group of children outside for the whole of the nursery session. Whatever the weather. We've bought some gorgeous little waterproof outfits from Scandinavia (salopettes and jackets) and jackets for us, incase of bad weather. Its my first one this week so I'm slightly nervous! The ethos is that the session is completely child led although we do take a back up activity to inspire! Always like to be spontaneous. I got a leaflet from our fostering agency on Friday letting me know they have vacancies in their Tenerife apartment for the Easter hols (sleeps 6). Rang them this morning and booked the apartment for 3rd-17th April. All I need now is to have the social workers permission to take the children out of the country and we're off to Spain in a weeks time for 2 whole weeks. :wacko: Haven't told hubby yet, well he will lay in and leave me to do the school run :rolleyes: All 4 children plus my grandson are happily oblivious to my plans playing outside with all the ice that formed overnight. WOW....what a day! Tuesday the children started playing hospitals in the home-corner so staff acted on their interest and added resources to enhance their learning in this area, this included a bed, plasters, bandages, setting up the reception area etc. Yesterday that bed then changed into a pirates ship, as the bed wasn't really big enough for about 12 children we then changed that over for the 2 small climbing frames from outside to make a bigger pirate ship. We then made treasure maps, pirates hats and got the face painting out. Hi all For those that are interested went to my local tesco today and they have reduced the V TEch baby walker (interactive sounds etc) to £10 this is an absolute bargain reduced from £27. I bought one of these at full price for my niece and she loved it.
