I've just been reading all the gory details of the McCartney's divorce settlement on the BBC news website (why do I bother when I have so many more worthwhile things to do??). Anyway, I found an article about some research done into the prevalence of the word 'gay' being used as an insult amongst children these days. It drives me mad - I've even heard my eleven year old begin to use it. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7289390.stm Its quite a long article - and does list some of the other nasty words I hate to hear people using about one another - but it is quite interesting. Whenever I've challenged my teenagers about the use of the word, they alw…

Greetings to all of you/us celebrating the feast day of Ireland's patron saint. Enjoy whatever activities you have planned with the children in your groups today and go easy on the green food dye! The wearing of the 'green' was always a sign of irishness in the somewhat turbulent history of Ireland and by wearing it you were standing up, proud to be recognised as one. (Irish that is!) I will be wearing my special green ear-rings today, flashing ones to amuse the children which hopefully will match the green streaks that my daughter put in my hair yesterday!!!!!! At least it covers the grey! Gosh, the things we do! Have a great day everyone, whatever…

Well I have been to work this morning, gosh I was sooo busy looking for the paperwork and talking to staff that I had hardly any time with the children. In the end I sat down on a chair near the physical area whilst I was observing staff/children and making a long list of what needs doing. One minute it was 9.30 am then suddenly it was 11.50 am. I will be spending the next 3 days sorting out the paperwork and trying to spend some time working with the children. The preschool needs lots of my attention as well as doing 3 assignments by May 08, boy am I going to be busy and OFSTED are due to turn up in June/July 08. I need some help and advice here please: …

HI. we (we being myself, mum, and two sisters (aged 20 and 5) are planning to go abroad in november this year. i have been to the canary islands twice, once to puerto rico and once to playa del ingles, both places were lovely. however this time we have a 5 year old in tow. i was wondering if anyone has any child friendly reccomendations any where in the canaries, (or anywhere else that gets the winter sun), ideally we want somewhere that has lts of things we can do with the 5 year old, ie play parks, shows we can see etc.... any ideas greatly appreciated. thanks Dawn

Sport Relief

Hi, Did anyone out there take part in sport relief today. I didn't do any of the runs, but I did stand out in the cold and wind and do 'marshalling' - pointing those lucky people in the right direction so they didn't get lost! I am doing a sponsored 7 mile run in May to help a friend raise money for her marathon charity place. I know its after the marathon but she has until June to hand in all of her money. All proceeds will go to Roy castle lung cancer appeal - which is what her mum died of in November. Well done to anyone who took part today.
