Skiing

Well today is finally the day that my daughter (13) has gone skiing with the school. After all the trouble she had with her friends 'dumping' her a few weeks ago, she was sorted with a new group of friends who all really wanted to be together. Hubby took her to the departure point at 1.15am this morning, she didn't bother going to bed last night, so pity the poor teachers the other end with 131 over tired kids to cope with! Her friend jumped on the bus and said 'i'll save you a place next to me on the bus', with that she gave her dad a hug and jumped on. (I didn't go, it's not good to see your mum cry in front of your friends - is it!) With that they set off…

I was coming back from my interview this afternoon, I thought I would take a short cut round the back of Bradford Royal Infirmary. Well I went down this road, got about 20 yards from the main road to see a tent with some camera equipment, police and van, then an abulance and the police helecopter flying overhead. With all this I missed my turn off to go down a road, so I had to turn around when I saw a fire engine turn up!! I have aboulsty no idea what was going on but I made a quick exit just incase it was something nasty. There seem to be nothing reported on the local newspaper website. So it is a complete mistery unless they are going to do some sort of documen…

I have been looking at local paper websites, apparenty West Yorkshire could be in the eye of the deep low on Monday with gusts upto 60mph, fingers crossed. If the eye moves 50 miles north it will have 80mph winds. Some snow is possible over higher grounds too. I hope everyone keeps safe in the storm  , especially those who are near the coast as they think it may flood in some areas. This is not good news as I need to attend interviews tomorow! Typical British weather: last Monday I got stuck on ice/snow, this Monday looks like stormy weather, ummm wonders what weather is for next Monday sunny? BUT the best may get to come they are predicti…

Guinea Pigs!

Hi guys, I'm after a bit of advise (as usual) I've unexpectedly gained some (very sweet) guinea pigs, the owner didn't want them and was going to release them into the wild. I didn't think they stood much of a chance so I said I would have them, as I was going to get some for the boys next year anyway. They are 2 years old and live in a hutch outside, but I was wondering do they need a cover at night, such as a blanket or some carpet. Any advise would be great, we live north of newcastle so it gets a bit cold. I've put them in the conservatory over night but would like them outside really. Any general advise and tips would be great. Many thanks Sal

Vandalism

When I got to work yesterday at 7.45 I was greeted by one of the cleaners telling me that some bxxxxxxs had been on the roof and tried to take the lead off the roof. They made a REALLY bad mess of several parts of the roof, leaving behind most of the lead on the floor unable to carry it away. This is the 2nd time in a year they've done it. Makes me so angry. It's going to cost us loads and is a real pain the axxe. I know we're insured but that makes our premiums go up and money is so so tight at work (I'm teacher governor so I've become so much more aware of the really bad financial situation we're in). So angry just wanted to vent and I know you guys will understand. …

Last night at around 9.30 pm we ended up in the dark. We was watching tv at the time when dad was about to change the channel when the tv and the lights went off. Firstly we had to scramle around in the dark looking for the torches (why can you never find them when you need them?) I nearly fell over the table, then mum almost walked into a door. We was all around the house 'feeling for the torches, mum went upstairs half way up the lights came back on for a second then went back off. Both me and mum when upstairs and found a torch. Looked out of the window to find that we are the only few streets to be out. We carried on looking for the other torch and li…
