Has anybody organised a walking to school day and if so what did you do. This is linked to our Healthy Schools foe exercise, less cars on road and environmental issues.

Salsa73 suggested that someone start a thread about responsible teens. So here goes... I just asked my 17 yr old what he's done today that was responsible. He's typed his own reply (and I wont be held responsible for it!) 'How are you judging responsibility, its an opinion, not a fact? Being responsible is a stereotype, in which our society's opinion may differ to others. Some will have a different view on what is responsible and what isn't.' So there you go then My 14 year old said his responsible thing was to hand in his homework on time

Hi, My headteacher is retiring at Xmas after almost 30 yrs at our school. We are planning a big assembly and have to think of something that each class can contribute - any ideas as to what would be suitable? Also we are having a collection for him and need to think of a suitable gift. Have never been to one of these so looking for some help. We are having a meeting next week to finalise arrangements so would love some ideas before then. Thanks in advance

Will make sure I put a reminder on my phone.

13th Birthday Pampering Party
by Guest- 6 replies

My daughter will be 13 in January and at this present moment she thinks she wants a pampering party. So I ask: a. Does anyone know anyone in Leicestershire who does these parties? b. How difficult can it be for me to do it myself? c. What do I include if I do take on the job myself? d. How many people to invite? She has recently been to a pampering party. All of the children had to be smartly dressed - NO JEANS, they had nail art, hair styling, makeup, and a chap taking photos printing them and then placing them in photo frames decorated by them earlier. They were all greeted with 'cocktails' on the way in and had a buffet tea part way through…

Paper Inspection Today!
by Guest- 7 replies
My setting has two Ofsted registrations as in the summer term for one day a week we go to the school with all the rising fives to start the transition process, this has a separate name as it is on the school premises - this helps the children to get used to the environment and the school is really kind and give us space to do our thing whilst we are there.........well as we are registered separately from the pre-school today we had an inspection but as the children do not start this until the summer term it was a 'paper inspection' meaning the highest grade we could get was satisfactory (there is only inadequate or satisfactory as the children have not started yet) , …

Hi all - Just to let you know that we're planning another of those forum upgrades soon. Probably going to happen on Friday, but not yet certain. The Forum will be down for a short while, but not long - hopefully! Also, you should have received a newsletter yesterday. If there were any problems with the format or delivery please let me know (via PM if possible). Two things to check before getting in touch: 1 - If you didn't get one, make sure you have your email preferences set correctly - ie correct email address, and also that your preferences are set to accept email from the administrator. You can check these from your Control Panel, or by clicking here…

I just cannot believe this. Two years ago I started my Apel (level 3) I have the pre-1989 qualification Foundation Course. I haven't had a break from child caring for 28 years, kept up to date with all issues but decided that it would be good idea. I was wondered whether to study at a higher level now i wish i had because my coursework has been lost by a tutor twice. The first time it happened I had all my work on disc so it wasn't too much of a problem. I was unable to contact the tutor for so long that I had to redo a lot of the work because I had improved the way I do certain things. After handing all the work and the 2 testimonials in I thought it had been submitted…
