Hello can anyone please share ideas for a reading area canopy kind of thing. I thought about those bed canopy tents but im worried about potential danger with that. I want to create an attractive, cosy book corner but i am struggling for ideas. I initially wanted to make a rainbow to hang down from the ceiling but I think someone here will have a much better idea?????????

I am really upset I had an interview last week, did well until college hours they said it was ok. I am willing to work around college this year. However I got a letter saying they could not offer me a job at the present time, reading between the lines the college hours are the problem. I now feel that I should find another college so I can carry on studying however they have all told me that I would do better if I stayed at my present one and to send a letter/emailing them that I am losing jobs because of the hours not been told. I know its 3 weeks til enrolement so should they know roughly what is going on yet? Plus if I do go back I will state that the way we h…

We went to Chester today and we were having a nice time up until we started to cross the road in the main street. There was a family who had a dog in the dads arms and a man riding his bike with a dangous dog. Suddenly we heard the man with the dog scream and fall down, as the other dog which turned out to be a pitbull type dog bit straight into the man's elbow and the dog. Meanwhile mum hid around the post not to let the very young child see what was happening. Well a big croud appered who tried to help the man get the dangous dog off him, the man who dog bit him did seem to care what was going on. Luckly the dog let go. Well then someone said get the police he…

Yep, about 2 weeks left of the summer hols & I can honestly say I'm ready to return to work. Had a good rest over the last 4 weeks and now I'm getting restless......been into nursery over the last couple of days cleaning & sorting and my brain is now buzzing with ideas and things to do. Am I 'normal' is anyone else ready to go back yet???? I can even say I'm looking forward to it!!!! I've not got a 'topic' or 'theme' actually planned but over the weeks have been collecting a lot of Elmer items so am thinking of starting something on the lines of that....any ideas?

Did a few hours at a nursery I'd never been to before today. We played outside for most of the 4 hours I was there, and the staff took chairs and sat. That was it. No more no less. They sat, talking about diets I think, I was obviously playing so couldnt hear. Never seen anything like it, bemused to say the least. There were other reasons I wont be going back but that one left me flabbergasted. I'm still shaking my head in disbelief. Amazing.

we have a little boy at our group who is still in nappies and he cries everytime he needs to be changed........and i MEAN he cries!!! Now, ordinarily, this wouldn't pose too much problem, we would simply change him and get on with things. He's a lovely little chap, but his parents were really nervous about sending him, (he's VERY precious!!), though it has to be said that now they have discovered the joys of time to themselves again, they're much better at leaving him!!Anyway...it seems that this crying 'problem' started when the little one stayed with granny for a few days, and it seems granny wasn't as quick at changing as she might have been, with the result that the li…

Hi, I'm am about to start as an NQT in a nursery school. The nursery is part of a primary school and only operates morning sessions as the school is a 1 form entry. I am really not sure how I am going to organise the children. Previously they have been split into 3 groups as there are 2 TAs and myself. However, the head is keen for me to do all the teaching. I am a little concerned about this as feel that 30 nursery children on the carpet for a session at once is a lot to manage and getting them all engaged and interacting in the short time they are there is going to be very difficult. I really dont want to rock the boat too much, but feel that the children may be …

I am about to become a great aunt. As we are a big family the baby is already well provided for in terms of baby equipment, clothes and toys. I'd like to start off her book collection and hopefully instill a love of books and stories. I've already got Where's Spot, Dear Zoo and Each Peach Pear Plum (cos I like them). Ideas please for other favourites that can be shared from very early on. Posy.

Does any one have a tried and tested cake or biscuit recipes that I can use with the Beavers, I would like to do something other than Chocolate krispies/cornflakes or Nests. The whole meeting is only an hour from start to finish so it needs to cook fast or not at all! Thanks
