TA DAAAAAAA......................it's seven years today that I was diagnosed with breast cancer and i'm still here to tell the tale. My mission is simple: spread the word about checking all your lumpy bits..............men as well as ladies. Don't care how you do it....get your partner involved if it helps.....check each other out, or just check your own. But CHECK.......get to know what your body feels like, so you know when something's amiss.................and get to your doctor immdeiately. My 'symptoms' were a slight tingling in my nipple and then it turned in ( pulled in like one of those buttons on your bed mattress)..........that was all. But my gp was very proact…

i remember a thread a few weeks ago about cooking with the children and I mentioned that we didn't have access to a cooker - well after a few chats with the head at our school (we are based in a classroom but independent from the school) we are now able to use their cooker. it is in a room next door to ours but it will be great. i now have lots of questions - how often do you do cooking activities? how do you make sure all are able to access if they want (which they will)? how many children do you cook with? what sort of things do you cook? how do you start - simple like a cake mix so children get used to activity? if anyone has ideas etc they will be gratefully b…

Ive been in my new job for several months. Ive gone from sessional care to room supervisor in full day care setting - a huge change in terms of hours and size of setting and Im struggling to settle. Things are very different from what im used to...and there are loads more staff and children to get to know. I am confident about being good at my job and knowing my stuff....but the social aspects like building relationships I struggle with. It takes me time to do this - but Im really feeling the pressure to fit in as well as getting things right. im so anxious all the time and everyone else is so busy too..its go go go all the time and just seem to get on with it...I fe…

First day back for me today - where did that holiday go? Bit of a shock to the system - having to get myself organised and out of the door! Soon felt as if we had never been 'away' - all 'newbies' happy - phew - let's hope tomorrow's lot are also 'happy'! :1b How has it been for everyone?

Hi everyone, long time no speak. :1b I've almost completely switched off from Early Years, I dont have any enthusiasm anymore, which is kind of sad but as I've been mostly at the admin side for the last year, I'm not going to blame me! Anyhow, here's to it... I've got a quick question I know you'll be able to help with; has anyone come across any reasons for not using shaving foam and if so was it any particular type? Our EY advisor has encouraged the manager to remove it from use due to potential allergy risks! I need to be able to back the staff with anything you've got, good or bad I guess.

Hello fellow professionals I have just had the day from hell at work hence why I am posting this early in a morning due to been unable to sleep. I will warn you that this is a long post but please read and offer advice if you can. Yesterday morning while I was in the middle of a session is was brought to my attention by a fellow staff member that my chair had forward an email that I had sent to him the following evening to all staff and committee members. This email contains details of my rate of pay and another staff members rate of pay, it contain my comments about my staff and their conduct at work and a rant about how I felt it was unfair that I hadn't received a pay…
