No Longer A Lady Of Leisure!
by Guest- 18 replies

Many of you will know that I have been giving a great deal of thought to taking on a job in a private school, as the nursery manager. This week I finally decided to turn it down. Whilst I had liked it when I looked round and saw it in operation, the fact that I had had so many doubts, and wasn't terribly excited about it, made me decline. I've been enjoying this week as a lady of leisure, and whilst I think I could get VERY used to the idea , I start my new job on Monday. I have been successful at interview for the position of nursery manager, in a very LARGE nursery, with a LARGE number of staff. I came away from the interview feeling really positive; …

What A Day!

HI today has been one of those days where it would have been better had i stayed in bed!. Today my senior left, so on monday i gave her an exit interview questionnaire to use in anticipation of her exit interview, she gave me the questionnaire back today at 9 am, in it she was rather personal in her responses, absoloutly slating my management style... I had to do her interview and i just did it as a one way exchange, i asked questions and she answered and i wrote down her answers word for word (have learnt my lesson on that one!!!!) her answers were hard to hear because again they were personal, and although they were her feelings and are indeed valid, i can't…

Hi I have just been offered a full time job 37.5 hours a week over 4 days which equates to 7.30 am til 6.00pm. Which I wasn't expecting to get. The job is in the 2-3s room and is about 10 miles away. I have tons of coursework to get done before 17 May 2007, then from next Septmber this 37.5 hours could change again. I have not been given a rate of pay (tried asking but I didn't feel that I was getting there). What should I do, I was not expecting to get this job at all. I have to let them know my desion in the morning and I haven't got a clue what to do. Help I don't know what to do thanks. From a very stressed out Beth

I have noticed that lots of people are trying to use different fonts and colours etc in their replies, sometimes not particularly successfully. I have recently started to gain a better understanding of HTML and thought I'd let you in on the secret! When you change the font you get something that comes up like this - The trick is to type the bit you want to change in between the 2 sets of brackets. Then it changes the font inside the brackets to the one you have chosen. Similarly if you want to change the size, colour or include something in italics or bold etc then you need to type in between the brackets. It becomes slightly more tricky if you want to do more th…

So Nervous!

I had an interview today for a supervisor of a community pre-school....I got the job and now have to hand in my notice from the job that I have been in for 5 and a half years!!! I am excited but feel really really sad at the same time! (as well as extremely nervous of the reaction!!) I wanted to say thank you, because its only from reading posts like Carolyn's and Shelly that got me thinking, that yes I can do something about being miserable and just because my present job is 2 mins away and in the grounds of my children's schools, it doesnt mean I have to stay there!!!! by Guest- 20 replies

Hi thanks for your good luck wishes everyone, i was really nervous going for this appraisal, i try to reassure staff not to be nervous and there was myself panicking LOL I arrived there and had to wait (more nerves) but once in there it was okay, more like a general chat. They asked me to talk through my appraisal form that i had completed, hence rolled of a list of my 'strengths' they agreed with them and one of the directors thanked me for my performance and getting thru ofsted too. They said that they have seen the nursery change and develop in ways they did not know it could develop,(bright displays, easier planning system, better observations, mor…

Friendly Advice Urgently Needed 1 2

Here are the recent events of the past few weeks (bear with me!!): * As of next Friday, I have no job. I have never handed in my notice before without having a job to go to, but KNEW that the right decision for me was to get out of my job asap. I have been managing a nursery with children aged 0 to 5 - and ideally would like to do this elsewhere. * Last week I got offered the job as the nursery manager at a private school. It has been up and running for a long time, and needs a lot of development and change. It takes 20 children aged 2.9 years to 4 years, and is all based with 1 large classroom - with the possibility of expansion in the future. I came away wi…
