Considering Giving It All Up 1 2
by Guest- 40 replies

I have had a pretty confidence damaging experience in my 'new job' this week and without going into too much detail, I am seriously considering giving up this profession altogether. I find it very difficult to work in settings where the health and safety of the children is compromised and have worked in many settings where this is the case. Unfortunately, I'm not one to keep my mouth shut when I see things that I believe are dangerous or detrimental to the children and this has lost me many a job in the past. I have seriously tried to keep quiet on occasions, but I don't feel that it is right. I'm doing the FD as everyone knows and I find it really frustrating tha…

fed up with this new job I have taken on. I am being treated like a trainnee nursery nurse! I am not allowed to use my own intitaive, I would rather go unemployed than work at this place. No contract, conditions of employment or how much I will get paid, I keep asking them what I am doing at this place. I think this is a professional critical incedent and not just my feelings as I know what I see happening to me is wrong. Ooo feel better for a rant, sorry people. Beth

Ear Plugs
by Guest- 5 replies

Hi all, I have perforations in both ears. I currently have an ear infection ( right ear) and taking antibiotics. I suffer these often due to the perforations. My query is does anyone know of any suppliers / brands of effective waterproof ear plugs. I will need really good ones for my holiday as I want to try snorkelling with turtles. ? I am concerned about water pressure and if I get water in my ears it causes/aggrivates infection. thanks. Peggy

I am back home after having spent the early hours of Sunday through to lunchtime today at the hospital. I went with a racing heartbeat that had been on going on for hours. They still don't know what's causing it and I'm on some beta blockers to bring it down. I have to have more tests soon and a scan on my heart. I was/still am to a degree a very worried girl. Not sure why I'm posting this, but felt the need to!

another interview this afternoon for a senior nursery nurse postion. Well more like a leadership postion as it covers day-to-day aspects of running the creches, umm following the Childrens Act 1989, in which I thought it now would be Every Child Matters? I am really looking forward to it. I just hope I can get the job as it sounds like it could fit in with my FDey course. Beth

I have a friend (level 3 NN with BA) who has just been offered a job as a teacher in a DN (pre school room). She does not have QTS and will be paid on unqualified teacher scale. She expects to only have 24 days holiday. Is this reasonable? If she is being paid as an unqualified teacher should she have teachers pay and conditions too?

18 Working Days Left

Have 18 working days left in my job - some holiday dates to take before I leave!!! Still no sign of anything to go to, but have the supply agency on Thursday so that's something to fall back on. Despite my anger (!), resentment (!) and deep upset (!) - I have reached the stage where I just want to get out. Feel like making myself a long strip divided into 18 sections, so that I can cut one off each day. Suppose I'd have to keep it at home though as hanging it up in the office would be just cruel
