I feel like I'm in the middle of a battle with absolutly no chance of being able to pacifie either side because they are both 'right'. They've had a row again today, shouting and bawling, so dad has taken away phone, computer use and isnt speaking. Sam is actually saying 'fine, if he wants to be like that...' I can see both sides, I know how infuriating they both can be and how stubborn and pig headed. I cant say to either one of them that they are in the wrong/right because then I'll be 'siding' with the other one. I really really wish one of them would be a grown up and back down enough for a conversation to start. Will it get better, all you who have teenage sons? C…

Feeling Sad

My children found out that i will no longer be able to be in the room with them all the time as my manager job now requires me to be nupernumery. They were chatting about it amongst themselves when a little girl came up to me and said "will you still be here when i need a cuddle i dont want a new teacher i love you i want you to stay being our teacher". Needless to say i reassured the child that i will still be around whenever she needs me for anything and if she wants me to be in the room at any time to let me know i will always make sure im there and then had a secret cry in the staff room. I hope this is the right thing to do coming out of my room i really feel like …

Staffing In Pte-schools

We are a PLA run pre-school. I was wondering if anyone knows if it is ethical to ask a particular person if they would be interested in doing 'supply work' at the pre-school or do we have to advertise to make it official? We are a small group with four member of staff who have worked together for five years. We can usually cover for each other if need be but it would be good to have a 'back up person' in case of emergencies. I know of someone who might like to do this and it would be great to have them on board but don't want to get in trouble by doing the wrong thing! Thank you, Rose

A Music Website

I found this last week and have been singing all week with my class. It's been so lovely to get back to singing. It's funny how you do something for years then one day you look around and realise you haven't done it for months. It was like that with me and singing. Not anymore...take a look at www.nancymusic.com Incidently the site has nothing to do with me. I would hate you all to think that I was advertising in an underhand manner. Hope it gives you some enjoyment.

I'm Going To Be A Grandma!

Nothing to do with education but I am over the moon with my daughter and son-in-law's news. My first grandchild and it brings back to me all the joy of hearing about my own pregnancy, especially when we had been told we would not be able to have children. The big decision now is should I be Granny or Grandma? Oh what a wonderful dilemma to have. I'm such a happy bunny and myb husband and I keep looking at each other and grinning inanely.

This Could Be A Long One....

I shall set the scene: I am the manager of a day nursery with 3 rooms; I am not the owner, and the nursery is owned by a large company; When I started at the setting it was, to be perfectly honest - awful! It still has a long way to go, but it's tons and tons better than it was. I have put a lot of hard work, sweat and tears into it, and continue to do so; My line managers know this, and are continually thanking me; Another senior staff member is doing a uni course 1 day a week. She is allowed this day out of work, and still gets her full wages - which are huge. This was agreed before my time; She is not coping with all the work she needs to do for her cours…
