Hiya everyone, I posted on here a couple of days ago about doing too many hours but right now that's the least of my worries. I had half day off for christmas shopping (work/life balance thing) yesterday so I met my 2 sisters in law and Freya (2 and a half year old daughter) at a huge shopping centre close to home. All was going well, Freya was playing up a bit because her aunt's spoil her rotten and I'm the big bad mummy who enforces rules etc! Anyway, the 2 aunts were in a shop and I was trailing behind with Freya - she had a small tantrum because she didn't want to walk and so I ignored her (as I always do) held her hand and made her walk. Bec…

I'm in need of a vutural hug. I have now been told I may not get any funding for my course. I am 3 months into the course and dont want go give it up! I have learnt soo much. Oh why does it have to happen to me? I have had a very bad year this year, roll on 2007. Right I need some help on how to increase my chances of employment that will fit in with my college course, I need a day off per week. What are my best chances of gaining employement, should I write more spec letters stating qualis, day off, hours of work and explaining what the course means to the prospective employers? I am very lost and upset at the moment, :wack…

As you may have seen, we have our PLA accreditation tomorrow... stressful enough you may think Today my MIL has rung to say that Neil's (my DH) dad is really ill in hospital. He isn't expected to live. Neil doesn't really have much to do with him since his mum and dad split about 20 years ago but it's still his dad and of course we are all upset. He's gone to the hospital (100 miles away) and I've since spoken to his Mum again who tells me that he was found unconscious and undressed last thursday. He is a diabetic but they think he may also have had a stroke. He had a leg amputated last year and his liver is shot from drink. It's such a shame. I thought I was OK but onc…

Hi Everyone, I have finally taken the plunge and applied for a position as a pre school leader. I spoke to the committee chairperson today (who was very nice) and i explained that i am waiting on the results of my Certificate in Early Years (via the OU) which i am due to recieve back on or around the 16th December. The Chairperson said i will be asked to spend the day at the preschool next week, could anyone give me any tips or suggestions for the interview process. Thanks in advance Claire x

Went to see Santa today. We took the grandchildren and queued for 2 hours to see him. it was a winter wonderland themed attraction and there was lots to look at while we waited. Jake aged 6 was very good, Millie at 21 mths was heard to say "don't like it" a couple of times and then she almost fell asleep as we reached the grotto. Santa was brilliant, he was a very gentle man and the children weren't scared although Millie did give him some old fashioned looks. The presents were good too, not cheap and nasty. Mind you it did cost £7 each for the children and £1 for the adults. It was a lovely morning, everyone waiting was friendly and there was even some Christmas singing…

Steve, I heard on the news that a firework factory in Lewes caught fire this afternoon and there have been families evacuated. I hope it hasn't affected you and your family and that you are all safe. Sue J

Doing Too Many Hours

Hello all, I started a job as a TA September this year. I've had quite a few with the 2 teachers and their bizarre way of working with 44 kids but that's for another time! The thing is, I'm contracted to do 33.5 hours per week. That equates to 8:30 - 4:00, 4 nights a week and stay till 5:00 one night for planning. BUT, on monday we have our quality standard meeting and sometimes a full staff meeting (I'm there till at least 4:45) - then on Tuesday it's planning (which is in my contract so fair enough!) then wednesday, thursday and more often than not, Friday I'm staying till at least 4:30. Now I know I could leave at 4 but I wouldn't have time to get every…
