Pumpkin Seeds Anyone?
by Guest- 4 replies
If anyone would like any pumpkin seeds to plant I've got literally THOUSANDS of the little things. We've scooped out two enormous pumpkins at nursery and I'm on my third here. They are all grown in an alottment with no pesticides etc (so virtually organic just nothing to prove it!). They can come with a recipe for pumpkin soup and pumpkin pie if you like!! Great for next autumn. Fluff x

My Cat Died Today!
by Guest- 20 replies

Hi. My cat died today and I am one thousand miles away. People who don't own cats don't understand how upset cat owners can be! My husband rang me from England to tell me - he is coming out for half term but thought I would want to know today but now I am alone in my flat, rather upset and tearful. My cat, Milo was only three years old. Apparently he had a maggot infection!!! He had two operations and then vet said they could not do any more. He was put down this morning - my husband was with him when it happened. Thankfully my husband didn't ring until 5pm (my local time) and I had just finished my second evening of parent meetings! (To top it…

Oh dear I starting to get a bit interviewed out, today I have had an interview for a job - turned out it is a 3 months contract still will need to find another job. I also have 2 tommorow one in the morning (starts in Jan 07) and the other in the afternoon both of them sound very promising. Trust me to find a placement and then I end up appliying for lots of jobs, 5 interviews in the last week. Knowing me I will either get the job that starts in Jan 07 or the other one in the afternoon starting ASAP. I am looking forward to meeting both of the nurseries that are in very interested in me. I knew the FDey course would do me some good. Today's interview wen…

Teaching Abroad

I am going to Ghana followed by America to teach in January and I'm getting very nervous...as well as exctied...now! Was just wondering if anyone had done anything similar and wanted to share any hints and tips?! Lots of people have tried putting me off by telling me stories about the toilets...or lack of them! But I'm determined to make it a positive experience. Lots of friends and family members don't think I'll cope but I'm hoping it'll be the making of me! We shall see! Ali

hi, i went for a job interview earlier in the week. they said they would call on friday regardless of whether i was to be offered the job or not, so that if i hadn't got it i could ask for feedback. they didn't call. i can only assume that i didn't get the job - which is fair enough, but i just feel that they could have called to let me no. i could have really used the feedback form the interview as well so was really disappointed at the outcome. laura

Does anyone know of a site where they list the names of day-care settings. We are in a new building and we need a name! Any wonderful suggestions that reflect community and lots of natural and outdoor resources??

Career Progression

Hi everyone, I am finding it really difficult to progress within my nursery setting. At present I am a keyworker for 9 pre school children and have been for the last three years. I thoroughly enjoy my role but am becoming frustrated at my lack of progression. I am now at the end of my first year of the FD which I am studying through the Open University. I would like to move into a supervisory position but they dont come up in my setting very often. All the vacancies i have seen for supervisors ask's that you have 1 years post qualification supervisory experience, so this puts me off even applying, although I know I am more than able to carry out the duties that being …

What Would You Have Said?

Hi everyone I have just had two interviews this week (another one today!! ) and one of the questions threw me a bit, although it was such an obvious one. I was asked: "What strategies would you use to ensure high quality interactions with the children in your setting?" I talked about ensuring that I spent plenty of time with them, listening to their interests, joining in with their play, and asking leading, open-ended questions like 'How' and 'why' type questions, but I couldnt think of anything else. Could any of you add anything else? G.
