Oh my goodness I just nearly had a car crash. I was driving up a dual carageway when a wagon driver was pushing me out of the way, so I slowed right down and they backed off to about 4 car legths back. Then I came upto some traffic lights which had just turned red so I slowed down to stop the wagon was far back so I had chance to stop. Then a young child ran across the road in front of me. I was stopped at the lights waiting when suddenly this wagon almost ran in into the back of me, so I braced myself for impact. Luckly there was nothing in the inside lane so they shot into the lane and overshot he juction (thank goodness there was not people crossing) stopped…

Ah what a lovely day I have had. Firstly I have been to college again, it sounds that we have a lot of reading to do. Luckly our module handbooks tell us what we are learning about each week. Most of the work will be done during the year so we don't leave it all at the last minute. Thats made me feel much better. Sencondly I have recieved a phone call about a job in a nursery who would like to interview me for a full time nursery nurse job, it starts after christmas and they really pleased that I am doing the Foundation Degree in Early Years. I will give them a ring back tommorow. Now I need to make sure I know the important stuff for my interview tommoro…

I had a parent ring to complain today about the number if times her child is falling over at playtime. The little girl has had 4 knocks in the past 2 weeks. Everytime a child falls and bumps their face or head we always send a letter. She has so far had a graze to her face and forehead. On the 3 other occassions there was no mark where she fell but we still sent letters as a precausion. This littl girl tears around the playground and has little awareness at the moment about her space and the space of others. I assured mum that there are plenty of staff on duty and that her child is reminded daily about slowing down and being careful. Mum was not at all happy and made us f…

I was at uni today, signing up for the Foundation Degree (which didn't go all that well to be honest, but that is for another day!) when my friend rings me up. She text me earlier on today but I was busy at work so didn't get back to her. She is one of those people that you don't see for months and when we do, I say silly things to her and think she isn't talking to me (you know the one?? She is talking to me, turned out she had been really ill in hospital. Felt terrible for accusing her of not talking to me, pathetic I know). Anyway, I thought it was strange that she rung me to see whether I had received her text and then she said it: "We were wondering if you wo…

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!! I am soooo mad with the attitude of some day nurseries. I have just been sent home from working in a day nursery on supply. The toddler room leader asked me if I loved working with the under 2's and I responded with I am not keen working with this age group but I will work with them. She went to the acting manager to told her that I hate working with the under 2's and I want to go home. In the above statement where have I said this to her? What was I met to say that I love working with this age group and lie? I was on my way out when I spoke to the Acting Manager she very balatenly told me they do not like supply nu…

Hi all, had a run in with a parent last week of term about a student placement we had. I take students from the upper school in which we are based and usually they are ok. I sometimes have a few who prefer to play on their mobile phone ( which they always deny having) or do their nails but overall we have students who are interested in children. The last student I had was a lad who was 15yrs. He actually wanted a placement in engineering but also said he would like some hands on experience. So they put him with us. HE WAS FANTASTIC. He was by far the best sudent placement I have had. He read his student handbook cover to cover, read the health and safety, policies a…
