A Funny Kind Of Day!

We had our Reception Graduation Ceremony today. It was fantastic. We presented the children with a certificate and then they stood up and shared their memories with the crowd of parents, grandparents and anuties etc.. I was bursting with pride as i thought back to the timid and shy children who started with us and then looked at the proud and confident boys and girls on stage. We then shared a slide show of photo's of children taken through out the year which had been put to music. It was meant to be a happy occassion, which it was, but also ,unexpectedly, very emotional. The parents and children loved it and it was so nice to have time to sit and think 'yes all we do is…

Problems With The Neighbours!

Hi all Just after a bit of advice. I recently bought my first house. I have know been living here for 2 months and it is an end terrace. I have just had a bbq to thank all of my family for all of the help they have given me moving in and decorating etc.. On the fence which i share with my neighbour i have a clematis (sorry spelling!) growing which is rooted in my garden. Last weekend i trimmed all the top as lots of shoots were appearing and it was looking untidy. However as we were sat enjoying our food my neighbour started chopping with her shears at the bush. Bits of the clematis bush were flying into my garden onto peoples heads, in their food and in their drinks. M…

In two weeks time I will be working more hours in the 2-3 room than any of the staff. Three do job share, but this will mean that observations and any subsequent planning could be mostly down to me. It's not a problem at all, the thing that concerns me is how will the staff like the idea of an agency 'taking over' as it were? I dont want to step on anyone's toes but I'd love to change the room layout a bit and introduce continuous provision. It's a lovely nursery, with lovely staff, but some, from what I have seen are quite set in their ways. No messy play before 10am is just weird. Their planning is quite detailed (although I still havent managed to find most of it) but …

End Of Year.

I got home from playgroup this lunchtime and haven't been able to rustle up any enthusiasm for anything. We had a fancy dress 'Teddy Bears Picnic' this morning, lots of pirates and fairies, a Tweeney, and Andy Pandy with Looby Lou. My house looks and smells like a flower shop (gorgeous). It was such a busy morning that all of a sudden it was home time and 19 of my children would be leaving. I did tell them that when they were playing in the courtyard they could come and wave through the window at us. Give me a few days and I will be enjoying myself with nothing to do. Enjoy the summer everyone. Mary

Well I finished my lovely part-time supply job in a Children's Centre last Friday. It was great fun and I absolutely loved it. Here in Wigan we finished term last week, but I know that some of you struggle on for a while yet? How terrible to have to cope in all this heat. What are you all doing for the hoildays? I'm off to France on Sunday, back to my boat with my OH. I will of course have withdrawal systems from visitng here but then it does go quiet in the hols.

Suitable Persons Health Check
by Guest- 2 replies

HI I have just seen in another post that a registered person, in my instance manager needs to complete a suitable person's helath check form. I followed the link that someone provided here and read the form ofsted ask people to fill out. in it was a section on depression/stress, self halm, eating disorders etc.... i totally understand the purpose of these forms but find them a tiny bit invasive.... about 17 months ago i went through a really rocky patch with depression ~ this depression is linked purely to childhood/early adulthood issues that i am actually in established counselling for (and making progress!) but as i was going through a low time i went to my d…

A Wonderful Last Day!
by Guest- 8 replies

As many of you know, I had my last day today and it was truely wonderful! The staff worked their socks off to make the day special. The day started with a huge balloon and a cake (decorated with me dressed in my tabard relaxing! that's a first!) being delivered from my friend. She also sent a great poem with it, which started the tears - this was at 8.30!!!) We had a beach party, which we were slightly concerned about with the weather being so hot, but we were given a big white marquee (spelling?) to use for the day which saved us really. There was lots of sand, water etc and the children (and us) had a great time! The parents did a collection and I have left with a …
