Hi Anyone got any inspirational and cheap ideas for presents to give to children this year? Last year we managed to find some nice craft packs, but this year we can't seem to find anything decent. (Foundation children going to Y1). Don't particularly want to go down the book route. Thanks Jo

I was asked today by a girl in nursery if she could have some music to dance to. I asked would she like pop music or classical music. 'Classical music please. What's classical music?' I explained, and off she danced to something floaty. After about 10 minutes, more children (all girls!) had joined her and were floating in the breeze of the fan. Then we went outside. The girls were upset that we'd had to stop dancing (I was too by now!) because they wanted to go outside, so I said I'd take the cd player out. What resulted was the best unplanned 40 minutes. Seven girls dancing to 'Time Warp', 'All That Jazz', 'Fame', 'If I Were A Rich Man', you name it, th…

HI our manager is leaving tommorow, we have collected money and brought her gift vouchers and all the children in the nursery have drawn her a picture (or handprinted for the younger one's)... the staff have also done thier own handprints (weird experience handpainting, something i didn't like anyway ) these pictures / handprints have been put together in a book and i wanted to add a poem to the front of the book. I have trailed the internet but to no avail.... anyone any ideas of a poem suitable for someone leaving the setting. Dawn

Hi - Just to let you know that along with the recent forum upgrade the Blog and Gallery had a bit of a facelift. Blogs look a bit smarter now, and there are a few extra doobries in there which you might find useful. Also, when you post messages, against your profile on the left hand side of the screen, there is a link to your own blog so people can pop in to have a look at your musings. Only for people who have created blogs of course. And for those of you who had a play and created a blog but haven't yet got round to doing anything with it I'll be happy to delete the blog for you if you'd rather not have a link to something with no content! And the Gallery again lo…

Hi all, so day two since i discovered that i had been made manager over the current deputy. The current deputy was upset, (she had applied also) and had been there four years, and was a lot more experienced in managerial than me (i have no managerial experience, but years of supervisory and my degree as well)... for whatever reason i got the job. the deputy is now making my new role (which starts monday) a whole lot harder, she is hiding away in her room, avoiding answering the phone, telling all staff to come to me using the line " go to Dawn she is your manager now" even when they are queries she would have typically answered. why is it that she feels sh…

These have to be original and genuine - no adult is this creative! MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she was so old she didn't remember any more. Melanie said, "If you don't remember you have to look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six." STEVEN (age 3) hugged and kissed his Mom goodnight. "I love you so much, that when you die I'm going to bury you outside my bedroom window." BRITTANY (age 4) had an earache and wanted a painkiller. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a childproof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little gi…

Hi all I got the managers job, i am so hugely pleased... The interview went very well, there was one question i was unable to answer but they were fine with that. They were very impressed at my Ofsted staff meeting presentation that i did.... and i got the job, yay The deputy is understandably a bit miffed but i think she will get used to it, and i have explained to her that since this is my first managerial role i will be needing her to help work with me whilst i settle in my new role, and from there on inwards aswell. all other staff are very pleased for me... letters go out to the parents tommorow, Dawn

My bearnaise sauce has just split, and I can't for the life of me remember what you do to remedy a separated sauce: I think it's something like add cold water and whisk, or put over cold water and whisk. Does anybody know???
