I'm particularly interested in 'school settings' both nursery & reception. I've been lucky to visit 2 schools And so far I've noticed it being a bit more 'formal' than it was last year - when I asked one of the teachers she hinted that it was to do with pressures from above & Ofsted, children need to be achieving far more these days. Just wondered if this is the way it's going in other places? By the way I'm not critising the children were happy & engaged.

just a bit of advice needed please- we operate from a church / community building and over the last few weeks or so there have been a series of break ins. they haven't as yet been able to access our room as we have a key pad system but i feel uneasy about leaving the childrens learning stories, safeguarding file and send file and any other stuff that is confidential etc., so want to hold these off site until the church sort out some better security. how do i advise ofsted - will they be ok about this?

We have been lucky enough to be given a large pack of A3 cartridge paper ( white). As it is such beautiful quality, i'd like to do something really special with it...................we have lots of sugar paper etc, for general painting activities, but I want to make the most of this lovely paper. Any ideas?? I have thought about some printing.....maybe simple lino-type printing..........but what else???

Obviously we must all be a bit concerned about the actual effects of funded hours going up to 25 or 30 a week. Then I read something in Nursery World where Childcare Minister Sam Gyimah is quoted as saying that there would be a consultation about this with the sector after the election. To me that says, they make promises, we all hold up our hands and say how are we supposed to cope with the increase? They say, oh well we offered and it is the fault of the providers that we can't deliver what we promised! And yet again everything is the fault of the people who are doing all the actual work with children....

Does anyone know what they are and how to develop them? My HT and I were talking about some problems I have in my class and he had just said "come and talk to me about any problems". I replied with "but you want solutions not problems!" It was something he often used to say in terms of getting our children to be a little more independent in their thinking - i.e. asking for a pencil not just sitting there doing no work because you didn't have one! Hence me teasing him. He then mentioned 'rich questions' as something he'd had to learn about when he was doing his NPQH. He has told me before but I can't remember the details. I think it is to do with how the pr…
