Really Fed Up!

Hi All, I have just spent four and a half years putting my life on hold while i completed a degree and GTP year to enable me to be a Foundation Stage teacher (having worked with a variety of age groups for 27 years - last 6 as NNEB in reception). I was selected for primary pool, which I was really pleased about but still have no job for September! I have just been recommended for QTS after a c.... GTP year working with teachers who know little of FS practice. I know one will come up but i am feeling very disillusioned at the moment. Confidence being drained slowly away. It is so reassuring to belong to this forum and know that other people out there agree …

Interview For Managers Job

HI i got an interview for the managers job at my nursery, my interview is next monday at 1 o clock, i have to prepare a short presentation for a staff meeting i can choose from 1 of the following 1) The nursery's up and coming OFSTED inspection 2) Birth to 3 3) Foundation stage 4) Behaviour management so hmmm, which to choose, i work in pre-school so i thought it may be 'obvious' if i talked about the foundation stage (and the director already knows my awareness/capabilities with FS), and may be more beneficial for me to perhaps step out of my comfort zone and try and show my awareness of one of the other 'areas'. My deputy manager is also going f…

Has anyone else had this problem today? Our level of children in today meant we needed a minimum of 7 staff without covering lunches, nappy changes, breaks etc.. Today 4 of our staff decided to get a syndrome called 'It's 32C and sunny and I have mondayitis'?????!!! Grrrr. Only 4 of us managed to get in today. 1 admittedly has conjunctivitis... yuck but fair enough but the other excuses were... migraine, a rough night and not too good!!!! They all know that Mondays is the day where we have alot of staff at college so it is the day we cannot call on our normally reliable staff having a day off. Oh and the only student due in today was being sick. And another miraculous …

hi guys, I'm thinking of sending a letter to the nurseries in my area asking them if i can do a bit of work experience there. Im qualified level3 and at uni at the mo doing BA early childhood and education studies. But when i did my level 3 i did all of the placements in a school so would like a bit more experience of younger children. I feel a bit guilty really bc my qualification is obviously 0-8 but i haven't got any childcare experience of children under 3 (except family and friends) and so would like to extend on this. Im just wondering if you think i will have any joy? Ideally Id like to go somewhere a bit more permanent so that when im on a long holid…

YIPPEE, Can't wait until tomorrow, I've given myself a day off, as I am the boss. ( well until 15:45 when I'm doing a home visit) I'm going off to IKEA, apparently they are having a Half price sale I live about an hours drive away, so don't get there as often as I would like. My step daughters coming with me as she's never been, so a new experience for her. I'm even looking forward to the obligatory meatball lunch What do you do on your day off then? ( apart from housework and mandatory food shopping) Peggy

What can I do, I'm fed up of scratching! I need points of view on this topic. We have a child who has had head lice for over a year, I've put up the standard poster " please check your child's hair", given out flyers from the health visitor, put it in the news letters. I hoped this would prompt the family concerned but the lovely long blond hair still had little friends! I spoke to a very embarressed mother whom said she must of got them from playgroup, well it is possiable but I have looked at the children and can't see any thing lurking! This has gone on & on, they are so large you can see them & when spotted I remove them!!I tell mum who goes off in a grump, sh…

I've just had an email (I suspect by mistake) from the chair of my old playgroup. She has just been told that the local school are having a nursery in Sept 2007, it is'nt going to be an LEA one, but run by an outside agency with the LEA overseeing. Any light to shone on thisset up. The playgroup is the only provision in the immeadiate area so i would have thought they would/should have been approached as providers to the school first.
