Excellence & Perfection

I used to think of myself as a bit of a perfectionist, & I would beat myself up about stuff for no good reason. I've mellowed with age, I think, like a good wine. I came across this the other day & found it helpful. I concluded I would much rather go for excellence than perfection. I hope you'll find it as helpful as I did! Excellence is willing to be wrong. Perfection is being right. Excellence is risk. Perfection is fear. Excellence is powerful. Perfection is anger and frustration. Excellence is spontaneous. Perfection is control. Excellence is accepting. Perfection is judgement. Excellence is giving. Perfection is taking. E…

Aargh!

Sorry - just needed to get that off my chest. I'm here busily typing reports that have got to be in by FRIDAY! Usually I start mine early but what with Ofsted and everything I have left it late and am now paying the cost. If anyone out there could spin the Earth on its axis and turn back time I would be eternally grateful. Now that I have successfully managed to waste some time I shall now return to my reports. In case you can hear a strange noise it's me sobbing and banging my head on the desk.

I reach 500 posts! Thanks to everyone who has helped me since I joined the forum, through my ups and downs (had quite a lot of those as some people well know).Even though I'm not in early years any more, I still come here as you are all so friendly and helpful. I thought reaching 500 would be a good time to say thanks to people! Nich xx

Hi everyone. I'm currently working on an article about the Foundation Stage Forum itself, and I'd like to include some reasons why you guys use it and what you get from it. This can be anything from planning ideas to support through an Ofsted inspection. Whatever you want to say really. I may quote a couple of things in the article. Thanks in advance for the feed back. Lea Inspector's Feedback

I've put this in the INSPECTIONS forum too so sorry if you've seen it already! "is it me?" should be my signature, as I seem to put it in every posting! We had an LEA inspector in last week to 'observe' literacy activities. The 'observation' went something like this; *Inspector + sidekick arrive, polite hellos etc. *Nursery staff invite inspector + sidekick to talk to children, work with children see samples of work, look at displays, talk to staff. The usual and quite frankly, the expected. *Inspector + sidekick take a quick (2 mins at the most) tour around the nursery. They talk to no-one. Not even a child. *Inspector + sidekick sit down in the office…

I've been to playgroup today and I had the most fun I've had in ages. The children played with a mix of sand and compost and then somebody gave them a bowl full of ice cubes. These went straight into the compost and then a bright spark wanted to wash them. We kept some back to see if anything would happen to them and them put some in warm water and then searched for them. A bit later while playing with the cars I drew some lines in chalk so we could see how far the cars rolled, a little girl drew loads more chalk lines because Charlies bike went far. The whole of the church hall floor was drawn oin and the learningthat had taken place was brilliant. I wish more places co…

Hi all - Apologies again! I know there have been a few of these announcements in the last week or two, but we were unavailable again for about 45 minutes this morning. This was slightly different however, and hopefully a lot rarer. I was directly implicated in the problems last week, but today's downtime was caused by a power outage on our host servers, and if it makes you feel any less irritated, a whole bunch of sites across the UK were affected. Hopefully this was a one off - there's an investigation going on to establish the cause - but sincere apologies to those who were inconvenienced!

HI all Had a really bad day, which probably got a little worse by my manager asking me if i was applying for the managers job (as many of you know i applied for it and posted my letter monday), my letter has not been received (is it fate??????) and the closing date is tommorow..... i have the option of sending my letter over to the office tommorow afternoon with the lunches... but im not sure what to do ... seems a coincidence that my letter didn't arrive, yet my deputy managers letter did... and i have a feeling that the overall boss doesn't really like me a great deal.... (hmmmm remind me again why i aplied for the job)... kind of having a down day, and reall…
