Made My Sad Decision!
by Guest- 19 replies

Haven't got that long to jot my week of decisions (bet you're all glad about that!!), but I have decided to call it a day at pre-school and will be handing everything over in July/August. It hasn't been done lightly and have had a terrible couple of days at work, telling the staff. They are shocked, but fully understand why I have to do it - for my sanity and for the sake of my family. I love the children (and staff) and still finding it hard to come to terms with the fact I won't be there to see their younger siblings in September, but I thought it was best to leave July, so the new supervisor can start afresh with the new intake. Just don't know what to do now, I de…

Sorry wasn't sure where to put this, hope it's ok here. Hi guys I wonder if any one could give me some advice/ point me in the right direction for info. I've got an interview in 2 weeks time for a supervisor role for a holiday scheme. This is a summary of the job: The post holder is responsible for the planning and delivering opportunities for play and experiences, which should reflect the nature of the multi-cultural society in which we live. Will organise and supervise the Play workers on a day-to-day basis. The post holder is also responsible to ensuring a safe and stimulating environment in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures and OFSTED S…

hi, having been off 1 week already and into the Easter decorating, clearing out the drawer (you know the one full of odds and ends!) I came across this, must have been in there for 10 years at least and no idea where I got it but have a go at this brain teaser. This test does not measure intelligence, fluency of words and certainly not mathematical ability. It can give a gauge to your mental flexibility and creativity. It has been found that few people could solve more than half the questions in the first try. Many reported getting answers long after setting the test aside over a period of days. Instructions: Each question contains the initial letters of…

Today I recieved a telephone call from a parent of a child who was in our care, over half hour after the start of session.. She asked me to check her daughters shoes and remove the marble which may be in one of them, as she forgot!! Sure enough on checking there was a red marble in one of her shoes! story emerged from child that her older brother had put the marble in her shoe as they left for school, she had told mum on her way in but seems mum forgot, hence the phone call. She had been with us over half an hour, playing happily without complaining about the marble, had mum not remembered and rang she would have had it in there until end of session.…

just feeling really low at the moment. I own a pre-school and work there 7 out of 9 sessions. Just lately everything seems to be getting on top of me. There have been a couple of incidents that have caused me huge stress. I sorted them out but they keep coming back to haunt me. I also seem to drowning in paperwork, staffing issues and parents who need support for various problems. On top of this i have 3 children of my own, one of whom is 3yrs and attends 4 sessions that I work. This on its own is stressful because he can be clingy at times and also expects me to be mummy not teacher when he needs me. feel like I want to walk away but i can't. Nobody would want to take i…

HI I had my appraisal today, i have been at work about 9 weeks now, and its absoloutly fabulous. My appraisal was great, the manager spoke highly of my achievments, qualifications and ideas... stating that she felt i was like 'a breath of fresh air' within the nursery, she said i had moved the pre-school further in the 9 weeks i have been then than it has moved in the last year and a half with the old senior who worked in there. (made me feel very proud of myself) She said the children are a lot calmer, and seem a whole lot more cooperative towards others. She said there eager to come to nursery and play/learn. The manager says that i have managemnet qualit…

Moan warning!!! I can fully understand the purpose if they are to warn the emergency services in the event of an accident. BUT WHY NOT JUST PUT THEM IN WHEN THE CHILD IS ACTUALLY IN CAR? My sister is in the police and has wasted time before looking for a child after an accident - the car was overturned in a ditch, the driver was unconscious and in the back was a car seat, baby toys, a dummy and a smashed window... 2 hours later they found that baby was at grandma's... I can also understand their purpose as a 'polite' warning to following drivers to keep a safe distance to avoid any accidents BUT I will only respect these drivers if they keep to the highway code to…

Up early this morning and it's all quiet on here, but noticed that it's Rapunzel's birthday. Have a great day, and make the most of your birthday being on a Sunday! Jackie
