I want to wish everyone a very happy Christmas. I know it's a little early, there being a week to go, but there arent enough hours in the day at the moment (I was in Tesco at 3.30am a few days ago), so I am sending my Christmas wishes now. I hope you all have a splendid time, that the dinner is cooked to perfection, the gifts are well received and the batteries last until at least the new year. I wish for you everything you would wish for yourself and your family and pray the New Year brings you all the good things in life, and if it doesnt, at least I pray that you learn to cope. Happy Christmas

Hello. Today I had my retirement assembly, one year early for various very sad reasons. A lovely assembly and attended by friends, former colleagues and staff. What a wrench when i have worked in a school for 23 years and been a leading practitioner for the LEA and a Foundation Stage Moderator. I will really miss the children and my good friends at school. I am hoping to do some training and supply to keep the wolf from the door. Just feeling very sad today. Sorry!

I make no apologies for this, and especially at this time of year. As many of you know, I live and work in Zambia. I have spent much of the past 12 months in south Afrika following the birth of my twins, but am about to return 'home' in time for Christmas. I dont think this is widespread news back in the UK, but western and southern Afrika have once again suffered poor harvests following droughts, which is leaving 40 million people at risk from starvation. In my own country, Zambia, nearly 4 million people are at risk, thats almost half of the entire population. Please take two mintes out of your busy festive schedule to take a look at the hunger site and 'c…

Private Groups

Hi can people let me know if in their areas it is different to us. Alot of the groups in our area are private, and alot have been trying to find new premises. I found last year a beautiful house that was big enough had a fantastic huge garden, we tried to get planning permission before we bought it, so the sale was subject to planning permission. I had a friendly councillor backing us, but another councillor decided it was a good campiaign just before the elections so he decided to back the residence in a campaign against us. Consequentially we lost it at the planning committee, with my "friendly" councillor going against us. we have tried to look for another house but ev…

Do many of you working in reception classes have outdoor provision with direct access? I currently don't and was looking forward to gaining this when we move into our new school. I have just discovered that there still isn't and I am gutted as I feel that outdoor provision is an important part of the early years curriculum . I understand not having provision now but to move into a new build without is so disappointing. Has anyone experienced negative comments from ofsted regarding their outdoor provision? Perhaps I need to get Helen Bilton on board.

Ear Problems - Hearing Problems
by Guest- 9 replies

Just a quick query to satisfy my inquisitive nature. Do any of you suffer from regular ear infections, hearing loss or other ear problems? Over the last 4 yrs I've had 2 ear operations, the last one being my left ear, last week, both operations were to repair perforated eardrums. I constantly had ear infections, the perforations were so large that the doctors kept asking if I had had a trauma to my ear- ie: hit very hard. this was not the case, but I do recall once that when I held my nose, with my mouth shut, and "blew" out, my ear would whistle - it became my "party piece" ( sad, aren't I). This obviously didn't do my ears any good Went for my check-up …
