Hi there. I have been a foundation stage teacher all my career and the phase manager for the past 5. With all the restructuring of the workforce, I am having my FS coordinator hat taken off me and being given a new role instead. I havent been given a say in this so I have to say Im a bit miffed to say the least. So far devoid of a title (other than general dogsbody that is), I will be responsible for inductions of all new staff, including NQTs, and all students whether they be teaching students, NVQs, GTPs SciTT etc etc. I am having difficuly in getting enthusiastic about this role as it will take me out of the phase I love teaching in, and may well take me out of …

Hi, Currently decorating the bedroom. Has anyone tried the new Suede Paints? I've been watching too many "Style" programmes and want to create some texture on my walls. I've had some info from the web, but can't "feel" the texture from pictures If you've tried this paint, does it feel soft like suede? Peggy

I've got to tell you about this book. It was brilliant. A man, Billy, gets to his car and finds a note on the window 'If you dont take this note to the police I will kill a lovely blonde school teacher somewhere in Napa County...If you do take this note to the police, I will instead kill an elderly woman active in charity work. You have six hours to decide. The choice is yours.' The whole book is based around notes and choices Billy has to make. I couldnt put it down. Well worth a read if you like psycological thrillers or even if you dont.

Feeling uninspired and need to come up with some ideas for 'challenging and measurable' performance management targets for myself for Monday. We have been instructed to work on Writing and to think particularly in boosting achievements in the higher achieving children. Any thoughts on linking that to Reception writing would be welcome. Last year I said I would aim to have 100% of the class reading at least 5 core words and able to write 5 words by the end of the year. Obviously my high and middle achievers went way beyond this. I managed it on the reading but writing was more of a problem with one child who, though able to remember lots of Jolly Phonics actions …
