HI peeps. Wonder if I can get some perspectives on this pelase? How are your schools progressing witht the new staffing structure and responsibility points? Im not sure I understand the little I have been given so far. Can a positon you have held for a number of years(even though the title has changed), be reassigned to someone else, and if it can would there be consultataion or can Heads effectively just do whetever they want? If you dont know what Im talking about, let me give an example. Lets say you were employed by a school as assessment cordinator, for which you got a management allowance, and in retsructuring, the schools still needs someone to do that job b…

Hi - Now, I should have mentioned when I did this, but I was fiddling the other day and decided that two member titles were a bit boring, so I changed them... Member titles correspond to numbers of posts, so you get for example: New User: less than 10 posts Member: 10+ posts Advanced Member 30+ posts Mega member 100+ posts Forum Inhabitant 250+ posts Part of the Furniture 500+ posts etc, etc. EXCEPT... I thought Advanced Member and Mega member were a bit boring, so I changed them in line with the way the higher posts were going. So now those with 30+ posts are called 'Settling in Nicely', and those with 100+ posts are called 'Feet fi…

I am a foundation stage coordinator in a school in sunderland where nursery nurses are currently being regraded. They are going to suffer pay cuts which are only protected for 100% for the first year and their hours which were supposed to be 32.5, but lets face it never were, are going to go to 37 hours and instead of being paid all year they are going to go pro rata. Someone has said that this is part of a national agreement but I can only find it in our local paper. Despite being a governor and part of the senior management team we can't seem to get a clear idea of what is going on. Can anyone shed any light on this for me please. I feel that my dedicated team, whic…

My son's friends mom died quite suddenly a few days ago. Tonight on the front page of our local evening newspaper there is a big picture of her in her cook uniform and the headline 'School in shock over cooks death'. Apparently she was a cook at a school. The newspaper wrote that she'd died and quoted the head and a couple of parents, their shock and how lovely she was etc. I found the whole thing to be quite band waggonish and told my son I thought they were out of order printing something that will be read by her son's friends and others and lead them to be the focus of morbid interest. My son said the newspaper would have had to get permission from the family, but the…

I would welcome anyones suggestions as to how I can keep ahead with new initiatives, research and relevant information. Why can't there be a central co-ordinated store of information. We have DFES consulations, QCA and Ofsted Guidelines, DOH initiatives, EOC directives, Surestart - to name but a few - sometimes I come across things by chance which are really valuable, interesting and necessary and yet sometimes I miss them. Does anyone have a way of ensuring I don't miss anything really important or have a way of putting on alerts that doesn't alert everything in cyberspace. I find some of the sites an absolute nightmare to negotiate and the number of times have…
