How Long Is A Meeting?
by Guest- 12 replies

Are there any rules/guidelines about how long staff meetings should be. We had a marathon event last week - 2 hours. We began with 2 different types of management game, then watched a DFES video of a class being taught on the topic of Greeks, we then discussed that and finally got onto school business. Phew! Several of us, mostly those with childcare worries, were worrying about when we'd get out. Just wondered what the norm is? Angela

Now I'm not sure whether this is a great idea or whether I'll regret it... Dee has asked me if anyone has any pet hates or subject areas you would like her to write about, in the same manner as her articles on the Forum to date. Keep it civilised please!

I went into playgroup today with the post, Oh bless me, the place looked awful, all the things I'd tried to do over the last few years had gone. No colour, exciting activities, adult interaction. New playleader complained to me that the DW hadnt liked what she's done. Oh I wonder why? It was so depressing, I knew I'd never really got the staff with me, guessed that sometimes I wasnt getting my ideas across properly and that some of the responses were lip services, but this was so uninspiring. It was drab and children were wandering around, flitting. The boards I'd let the children decorate with hand prints/foot prints and art work were out of reach and not doing anything.…

Do Days Get Worse Than This?

Hi all, We had a staff meeting today. The leadership decided that all staff had to contribute to our first "self-assessment". They had not read-up, so did not know that self-assessment is based on National Standards. I pointed this out at the meeting. Out of ten staff ....... seven did not know what National Standards are! The leader and her deputy could not even say "there are 14 NS for sessional care". Please, tell me, it's not me going mad. - it's the rest of the world! I've done my bit now. I've ordered copies of NS an guidance for all staff members via the internet. I've told leadership that they need to give unqualified staff members more…

Making A Link!
by Guest- 23 replies

Some of you have requested how to put in a link to another topic. I thought I would let you know how. Go to the topic you want to copy. Click on the web address at the top of the page-where it has http://www. etc. Copy this. Write your post and when you want to put in the link click on the grey box with http:// in it-it's just above this box near Normal Mode. Paste the address you have copied and click ok in the box that opens. Another box will open and you can put in whatever you want. So for example I have put a link into the topic where I found the requests and I put in the words "right here". So you can find this right here. You can also import addresses from elsew…

INNER PEACE I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me and we could all do with a little calm. By following the simple advice I read in an article, I have finally found inner peace. The article read: “The way to achieve inner peace is to finish off all the things you have started” So I looked round the house to see all the things I had started and hadn’t finished……….and before leaving the house this morning I finished off a bottle of red wine, a bottle of white wine, the Baileys, three Bacardi Breezers, the Jack Daniels, the Prozac, some Valium, some cheesecake and a box of chocolates. You ha…

I am vegetarian(the sort that doesn't eat meat but does eat fish). My general approach is more ready steady cook than planned, whatever is in the cupboard until i'm forced to go to the supermarket again. I have a fairly wide repertoire of standards - you know, the kind of thing you can put together without even thinking- but am getting bored of them. Can't be bothered with buying any new cookery books as I have so many anyway and have used a fraction of the recipes in them. SO, anyone got any yummy, easy, vegetarian cosy comfort food recipes that can be slung together with relatively little effort after a day at work??? Just fancy a change from the usual!! Cx
