Co-ordinating A Large Team

Hi, I've been the foundation stage co-ordinator of a foundation stage unit for a couple of years now, as I kind of 'grew into' the position (didn't apply for it got asked to do it) I'm still finding some aspects of the role INCREDIBLY difficult. We have systems in place and all staff no what they are doing etc but mainly I'm concerned about time wasting. There are SO MANY jobs to be done above and beyond the day to day running of the place that I can't help feeling annoyed when staff start standing around chatting-it might just be 10 minutes in the morning but if all those minutes were added up... Is this a common problem when working in a large team do you think? May…

I'm Still Here!

For those of you who still remember me, I am still here and loving motherhood! Sue R - your email made me get off my backside and post (I've been meaning too for weeks!). On 28th May (13 days late!) I gave birth to a baby boy - Thomas. As well as being late - he was a whopper! Weighing 9lb 15oz!!! All natural delivery, bit of gas & air to help, but a very long process (27hrs in total!!). He is such a good baby and is now 11 weeks weighing approx 15lb. He is full of giggles and is such a delight! I can't remember life without him. Sadly, I am back to work in September. Luckily I am doing a job share, so only working Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday and…

Hi all - With apologies to all those who have contacted me via email and/or PM over the last 10 days! I went to Dorset on a week's holiday, but found no possibility of any internet connections. No mobile phone coverage, so no mobile phone modem - and one payphone in the house with no place to stick my modem cable in. So to all intents and purposes I was completely internet free - which is scary when you rely on it as much as me... On top of which, when I got home I found a queue of various relatives and friends all demanding to stay with me, with the result that I've only been able to log in and make sure there are no urgent problems to be dealt with. I've now beat…

No Sleep For Me Tonight!

I'm very excited but a bit nervous about starting my new nursery teaching job tomorrow after being away from having my own class for over 5 years . Am wondering right now where that confident teacher of 2000 has gone . As I'm in Scotland now the children have been back since 17th August so the previous teacher has been in on supply until now, therefore has put her 'stamp' on the new intake already - ah well never mind, I'm sure it won't take long for me to introduce my own way of doing things I've been in a couple of times so know what changes I want to make - just hope the Nursery Nurse is agreeable! Here 's to a sleepless night
